Miles had no idea how much time was left and got lucky as hell.

The blackjack comparison was dead-on. Anyone who can't see through his luck is blind.

I can think of at least three calls he's made this season that, if they went the other way, LSU would be out of the SEC and national picture and his job would be on the line.

Actually, Holly Rowe asked Miles what he was thinging when the timeout was called....and there was no timeout called.

A few more random thoughts on the LSU game...

    1) That was a hell of a play by Trindon Holliday to save the touchdown on Perrilloux's fumble in the first half. 5-5, 160, and he takes down a DB? Awesome.

    2) That was a cheap shot on Dorsey. Can the SEC suspend the guy who blocked him for that? If it were the NFL, he'd certainly be fined the next week. But is there some sort of disciplinary measure like that in college? And did Tuberville tell him to sweep the leg. I bet he did.

    3) On Hester's touchdown, the receiver in question didn't look like he was any further back than the left tackle. And if you've ever stood on the sideline at a high school game, you know the first thing a receiver does when he gets into position is tell the line judge he's on the line, and ask to make sure he is on the line. It's basic. If the ref gave him the OK, he was OK.
And even if it was a penalty, we'll just call it payback from last year's BS non-call on the pass interference. Let's say it's even now.

    4) Brandon LaFell and Carnell Stewart suck. I'm talking big hairy goat balls. Stewart has allowed more sacks than a 40-year-old porn star. And LaFell couldn't catch the clap from a $5 whore.

I saw four straight plays where LSU defenders tackled Auburn guys by the head -- penalties, non-calls, helmets flying off, facemasks -- cannot remember the last time I saw such targeted dirty tackling.

LSU's home against South Carolina this season?

It pains me to have to say this, but is there a better three-loss team in the country than Auburn? That loss to South Florida looks a lot better than it used to. The close game against Kansas State isn't as bad. Sure, they lost a stinker to Miss. State, but who hasn't lost a game they weren't supposed to this year?

Not sure what it means, though. Are they unlucky? Is Tuberville to blame? Should he be lionized for having his team within a whisker of teams ranked, at one time or other, No. 1 and No. 2 in the country, with Brandon Cox at quarterback?

Do you think Tuberville wishes he had kicked off deep at the end instead of squibbing it and giving LSU the ball at the 42?

    Probably, Charlie Brown.

Also, it is possible -- not overwhelmingly likely, but more than a longshot -- that 11 SEC teams could be bowl-eligible by season's end.

Vandy's got Miami (Ohio) to get it to 5-3, then needs to beat one of the last four. Granted, that's Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee and Wake, but still.

Arkansas has Florida International to get it to 5-3, then one out of four that includes Mississippi State.

    Although...

Mississippi State needs two out of four against Kentucky, Bama, Arkansas and Ole Miss -- the only one not realistically in contention.

    S. Carolina, Kentucky, LSU and Bama all already have at least 6 wins. Georgia, Auburn and Florida all have what should be gimme games on the schedule -- though I don't put it past Georgia to lose to Troy.

Seriously...Vanderbilt's gonna get six wins, and then get left home anyway. Poor bastards.

No idea what he was thinking, except maybe to keep it out of Holliday's hands.

It was a rare bad decision for Tuberville in a big game, Charlie Brown. I couldn't believe the stat that prior to yesterday he hadn't lost to a top-5 team, Charlie Brown.
