Will be interesting... I get to play uncle tomorrow and babysit for most of the day, something I've avoided all my life. And I meant his wife, not mine.
A three-year-old who doesn't listen coupled with Jack The Dog, who doesn't listen either. Both struggle to be housebroken, neither eat when they want and both want my time.
    Adventures in Babysitting, indeed.

Wow was for you Slappy. The rest of it was for Not.
Slappy, here a couple of tricks to that yuor adventure in baby sitting won't be brutal. 1, Put Jack the dog outside, in the basement, porch or what have you. He'll be fine.
Play with the kid for a few minutes. Spend time with him he'll probably tire and go to sleep.
Have fun, enjoy it. It can be an eye-opening experience.

It takes more than "a few inutes" to tire out a 3-year-old.

    you think?
I think if he took a few minutes, showed the child some attention, he shouldn't have too many problems.

Was planning on rubbing bacon fat behind her ears and letting the dog play with her... will that work?

Depends on the dog. I wouldn't try that trick with a pit bull. I wouldn't need to try it with a doberman because they take to kids. In all seriousness, just be a good uncle and show some love. You'll be OK.

I'd actually keep the dog inside and put the kid outside. But that's just me.
Or I'd ignore them both and go make my snake rise.

You could try and make the dog's snake rise.
