The Saturday Night Live book is delightful. Widely available through many local libraries, and dirt-cheap on Amazon.

Is that sort of thing frowned upon?

So after reading the SI Scorecard this week, it sounds like there is more interesting stuff in the book about the making of the ESPN empire than the context-less quotes let on.

I think my post was more a reaction to the Deadspin voracious appetite for "You're with me, leather" stories or quotes about Erin Andrews from women she works with. And stories about middle managers getting married.

I just can't make myself care about any of that. For Deadspin and its readers, it's like oxygen, and I don't get it.

Of course you get it. You may not like it, but you get it. People like salacious gossip, what's the surprise?

My Kindle tells me I am 19% through the book. And I'm lovin' it.

    1) About sportscasters?

    2) None of it is all that salacious.

Yeah, so I guess I "get" by now that people like salacious gossip. But I don't get why they do, particularly when it's not really that salacious and the people are not very interesting.

Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky? Yeah, I get it.

Erin Andrews' co-worker thought she looked fabulous in a video? Don't get it.

  9. Well of course.

Don't forget how good Dan Patrick and Kenny Mayne were when they were paired up on SportsCenter. Sly humor every night.

And I also thought the SNL book was excellent. Same formula for ESPN? You bet I'll read it.

  11. Pffff. Feel Good SportsCenter was my summer going into 8th grade ass actually staying up to watch that. Watching the replays of the FGS the next morning was always great, too.
