    "redacted . . . for now."

ooh, Deadspin! Maybe NOW you'll start producing the dirt you said you had! Or you'll just talk about a book everyone has access to.

“I was introduced to [Chris Berman], and my title was mentioned,” recalls marketing senior VP Lee Ann Daly. “He was like, ‘Oh, goddammit, do we need another vice president?’ And I just said, ‘Nice to meet you, too, Mr. Berman.’ ….there was really no need to be a jerk. But that kind of stuck with me. I noticed that Chris Berman was rarely happy. He was always very difficult to please.”

He just seems so unlike that.

Is this book going to be much different from Freeman's book? There was a lot of dirt in there, too. That Karrie Ross story referenced in the EW article was in Freeman's book, I think. I suppose reading it all as oral history will be interesting. And 11 years have passed since Freeman's book, so I guess there's new stuff to talk about, too.

I rarely watch SportsCenter anymore, and when I do, it's usually just for a few minutes here or there. I turned it on a little while ago, hoping to see highlights of Dirk's performance and the draft lottery. They were promoting the next edition of SportsCenter -- the one originating from L.A. -- by showing the two anchors (Stan somebody and that "Howzit" douchebag) arriving at work as if they were star athletes, walking from their cars in the parking garage into the "locker room" (i.e., studio). Howzit was wearing headphones, and Stan was signing autographs and posing for pictures with "fans". Yes, they actually had people -- I have no idea who they were, the poor saps -- act as fans for this thing. I realize it was all tongue-in-cheek, but it just reminded me of everything I hate about SportsCenter now -- the overkill, the staging, the anchors who think they're comedians/celebrities. Sigh.

Put it on a green at the University of Michigan Golf Course and it was a Washtenaw County Bar association golf outing in the 1990s...

Just loooooove (from the excerpt) the ESPN exec bitching about Olberman having no loyalty. Puh-lease. My guess is he had to look the word up first before giving the quote.

Look, it's pretty well-known Keith has a sizable ego and major personality issues. But he also is one helluva broadcaster, and helped forge the success of the network. Berman, Ley and Tom Mees set the foundation, but Olbermann and Patrick sent the ratings to the stratosphere. How about a little loyalty for that fact, Mr. Executive?

I think any one in TV/radio/ bitching about loyalty in the economic climate they've fostered over the decades is phonier than a $3 bill.

I never want to hear any suit ever complain about loyalty. There's no such thing in media. Period. Both ways.

Might be difficult to find, but I had the audio book of the version with Dan and Keith doing the commentary. Quite entertaining

I wonder if there will be an audio version of this book.
