A catchphrase blatantly cribbed from a Rick Reilly SI story on Joe Montana.

Which was stolen, at least, from Johnny Carson, who probably stole it from someone earlier than him. That phrase has been around since pillows were invented.

First time I heard gimp-eye say it, I wanted to punch him through the TV.

He probably stole it from Krusty the Clown, who got it from Steve Allen.

I thought it was a Satchel Paige line, or something involving an old Negro Leaguer.

By the way, I love the EW excerpt about how so many of the sex-and-drug problems were caused by the company being in boring ol' Bristol, Conn. Yeah, just like Newt Gingrich couldn't keep his dick to himself because he loved America so much. Sheesh.

ESPN still does an excellent job showing tennis.

Except for the presence of Brad Gilbert, Pam Shriver and Chris McKendry.

And the lack of presence of Mary Carrillo.

I liked the stuff about Michelle Beadle and Erin Andrews...just riveting. Glad she saw the video, though.

I wonder what place a woman has to put her mind in when she's being paid to be propelled via cunnilingus by a bunch of drunken dorks.

Yeah, that's obviously it. All those naughty ESPNers would be going to operas or museums or art galleries if the HQ was in NYC. They'd never indulge in hanky-panky in NYC because they'd be too busy with wholesome activities.

I might pick this up. And when I do, I hope to see a quote, attributed or not, that says Chris Berman needs to stop doing everything but NFL Countdown (I'd be OK with keeping that because I don't watch it).

SportsCenter, a lot of the time, is just background noise while I'm doing something else. But when Berman came on Sunday night, I had to turn the channel. I was hearing a tone that registered to my ears as "Contractually obligated, phoning it in."

Come on. How can you not like Brad Gilbert. Rumor has it he's in line to take over the IMG Academy in Bradenton after Nick Bollettieri retires.
