Ha, yeah, that deal is not looking too good for me. Ugh. I'm glad I still have him in my dynasty league. Speaking of my dynasty league, I acquired Shohei today, despite the injury.

In that league, he is eligible as one player at both the UT and P spots. You only collect his hitting stats if you have put him in the UT slot and only collect SP stats when you have him in an SP slot.

I gave up Fried ($36 -- basically unkeepable), Eloy ($10), Woodruff ($2), and Paredes ($1) for Shohei ($23) and Kyle Tucker ($8).

Shohei is keepable through 2025, Tucker well beyond that. Eloy, Woodruff and Paredes are all keepable for four years or longer.

Honestly, I think Tucker is the best bet in that deal to be a monster. My trade partner likely won't keep Fried at $54 next season. Eloy is always injured. Woodruff could be either be a total steal for him or a good departure for me. No idea where he'll land on that spectrum. I like Paredes, particularly for his versatility, but I'm not losing sleep over him.

Even with the injury to Ohtani, I like that deal for you. Tucker is a beast.

That was my take on it. Tucker feels like a future MVP. I didn’t mind giving up Eloy, Woodruff, or Paredes. I have a good chance to get Fried back in next year’s auction draft, so I’m not sweating losing him either.

I also remember Masahiro Tanaka pitching several years with a torn UCL, so it’s not a guarantee that Ohtani will be sidelined next year.

Wondering what you guys all think of Seager and the season he's having.

I have an opportunity to acquire Tatis ($12) for Seager ($8), basically. Guy offered Tatis, Mountcastle ($1), Ryu ($3) and Holmes ($1) for Albies ($44) and Seager ($8). This deal amounts to Tatis for Seager from my perspective, because I’m about to get eliminated and won’t be keeping Albies anyway.

Seager has been a beast this year, better and cheaper than Tatis, but it also feels like a career year that won’t be replicated. He is averaging 4.5 ppg and is on pace to play about 120 games. He's never averaged more than 3.1 ppg in any season in which he's played more than 100 games.

So I guess my question is: Would you make this deal, essentially trading Seager for Tatis (with the opportunity to win Albies back at auction next season)?

Bumping this because, as I’m thinking about it, I’m wondering if the steep drop in OPS for Tatis this season is because he’s not using PEDs, and maybe this is who he is moving forward. Earlier, I was thinking that I was buying low on Tatis and selling high on Seager, but I’m rethinking whether that is actually the case. Thoughts?

It's possible. He had a great June before slowing back down. Maybe he's wearing down after missing so much time. He is going to be an interesting call for next season, one I'm going to have to make in our league.

Finally hit the trade deadline and wound up with this deal:

    Acquire:
    Tatis ($12)
    Berrios ($5)
    Meneses ($1)

    Trade away
    Albies ($44)
    Bichette ($8)
    Ozuna ($1)

All player salaries increase 50 percent next season, so Albies wasn’t a keeper. I don’t care anything about Meneses, but he was included for salary purposes. Essentially, this deal boiled down to Tatis/Berrios for Bichette/Ozuna.*

    *I got to keep Seager.
