I agree that he can be annoying. But it was "I don't give a shit about North Carolina" wasn't it? And he didn't at the time. His Kansas team had just lost the national championship and he was pissed.

I think he simply said that it wasn't as much of advantage as people make it out to be. Somebody else also is being disingenuous. Yeah, he should have admitted that it was more of an advantage.

    A disingenuous turd?

(man, my original post was meant to be in response to Mr. Maximus. Oh well. Gotta remedy that below).

He said "I don't give a flip" first. Then when pressed, he uttered the (horrors!) swear word.

UNC had a great year and earned home cooking; that's what being a top seed is all about. He acted like it didn't matter. "Ah shucks, golly gee, we got our butts kicked at home TWICE this year, we did!"

He doth protest too much. I find him disingenuous in overall personality and in his dealings with the media. You don't. Cool.

And this makes him different from just about every coach in the country how?

Hell, zagoshe, I don't know. I just happen to think that about him. Sorry.

Look, he's a wonderful coach. How many guys in recent years have tried to take over one of the great programs, and fallen flat? He had no experience as a head coach before resurrecting KANSAS. Then he goes to Carolina and saves their program? Amazing.

He is a great coach. Whose whole "golly gee, those people in Lawrence should get over it because it hurts me" personality happens to be sort of, bleh.

That's exactly it. How does a team that thoroughly dominated the opposition in its first four NCAA games--and for most of the regular season--get so thoroughly outclassed in the Final Four. It ain't because Kansas is 18 or whatever points better than UNC.

Time and time again, Roy Williams has the best team in the land and finds a way to piss it away. At some point, it's not a coincidence or just bad luck. He's a horseshit big game coach and tonight was more predictable than a sunrise.

You're right, Williams was a terrible coach against Illinois in the 2005 final.

It's just shocking to think that the guy that couldn't get to a Final Four with Pierce, LaFrentz, Vaughn, Pollard, Haase and a couple of other NBA guys on the roster learned from the guy that couldn't get to the Final Four with Michael Jordan, Brad Daugherty, Sam Perkins, Kenny Smith and Matt Doherty. That year was probably all Matt D's fault too. :)
