Hey, if a guy can't taunt Mark Penn, what's the use in getting up in the morning?

Don't be surprised of Ohio Gov. Strickland gets in there somehow.

This must be about the first time in Mitt's life that he wished maybe, just maybe, he had a little less money for those ads, and a little more in common with the rest of the fucking planet. That man's lived a charmed and damn naive existence, and this is medicine that he hope he swallows, because, truth is, he's not an entirely bad man or politician. But, right now, he looks like a little of both.

As for this little side abortion debate, well, it's a hot issue, but one thing I never do, no matter what side anybody's on, is ever utter the words "that should be up to a doctor, not a politician."

  4. And good for you.
Meanwhile, back in the Granite State, Hillary is starting to flounder almost completely.

    Holy god, that's bad.

I don't get it. The smart play is just to say "If Obama had been in the Senate in 2002 - he was busy figuring out appropriations for deedledum community college back then - I would have liked to see have seen him vote against it."

You just can't change the vote. You just can't.

I am going to go ahead and agree with this, in the most respectful, inclusive and empowering way possible.

    Oops.

Now, it seems, the GOP will have to figure out how to run against Obama without going uber-negative.

I'm not really up on politics, but isn't it a bit early to crown his ass (though you can if you want to)? Can't things look a lot different after Super Tuesday, or whatever the heck it's called, than they do right now?

I knocked on wood as I typed this, but no. Unless Obama did/is caught doing something pretty despicable, I don't see him losing enough momentum to lose the nom. I could be wrong. It's happened before.

Interesting. I'd definitely rather see Obama win than HRC, but it just seems odd that she could go from seemingly-strong to on the ropes this quickly. Thanks to so Iowa and N.H.

She ran as a quasi-incumbent and as the inevitable nominee. Her whole strategy has been experience, stability, experience, etc.

Coming in third in Iowa -- and by a really big margin -- kind of takes the wheels off that bus. If Obama takes NH, he's got a commanding lead, and he's closing on her in South Carolina. The speculation is that black voters there were waiting to see if white voters would go for Obama. If he wins Iowa and New Hampshire back to back, that's less of a concern.

That said, she has plenty of money, and will surely hang around until after Super Tuesday. But her problem is the same as Giuliani's: She does great in generic, nationwide polls, but poorly in states she actually has to campaign in. That's never a good thing.

Plus, there are the cross-tabs on the polls showing that her messaging just isn't resonating. It's a variety of things. But the early states matter because of money, and up until now, Hillary was kind of able to put her thumb on a lot of big money donors for a lot of cash. But Obama was able to keep pace with her, so she can't really even outspend him on television.
