I was listening to the POTUS ''08 channel on XM (130, great content on there), and they said what you speculated, Jones.
The independents went completely away from Obama, given he allegedly had a 8-10 point lead entering today.

    Can Bill be the VP?

I was just hoping we'd hear from Jones.

Sure could, but I think realistically people would see through that. Whomever would run for the Republicans would have most people thinking it's all a ploy to have Bill really run the country again.

So, it's legal for a former President to be a Vice President? Seems strange.

I am pretty sure it's legal, but decorum wouldn't allow it. I think UN delegate would be a perfect role for Bill.

As long as they don't run for office of President again, it's legal.
Now, say, Hillary and Bill run. They get elected, Hillary steps down - I think all Bill could do is fill her term and not run again.
Obviously, if someone knows I'm wrong on this, please feel free, but I'm pretty sure that's the story.

But really isn't it kind of that way already? Hillary's on record as saying she can't ignore the Bill factor in her campaign.
Edit: I thought once your 2 terms are up, and another term is passed a person can run again based on what the constitution says. I could be wrong, but I think that's how it works.

The factor in her campaign and how much he'd be allowed to do if she gets into office are different. It's already been reported that he'd have no clearance to sensitive security issues, so, legally, she couldn't even talk to him about it.

Legally, no, but has that ever stopped a Clinton? /whitewater.

Is 82 your birth year? Whitewater was a small potatoes real estate deal. More scandalous things are happening weekly in the Bush administration.

I really think you can stick a fork in Huckabee and Romney, but Romney seems to have enough money -- and he did finish second twice so he isn't getting blown out of it -- to be an annoyance until Super Tuesday.

I'll be shocked if this doesn't turn into McCain v. Rudy once we get into the real race and away from these two tiny states that in the grand scheme have historically been bad indicators as to what is going to happen in the primaries,
