  1. Inside the numbers there's some interesting stuff going on. For all the talk about "independents," the reason HRC won is simply because more people than expected registered as Democratoc voters and picked up the democratic ballots. Obama got over 80K votes in a contested five-way primary and that wasn't enough to win. NH's gone, GOP, McCain or no. The rest of the map's not looking too good, either.

    Iowa, too.

Almost 2-1 participation at the caucuses.

Fen, it gets me so hot when you use the word kerfuffle.

  5. Nice, Boom. Rural Ohioans aren't so fond of vote fraud, either.

    Or the SEC

  7. I do believe GOP participation in the caucuses was a record.

Leave it to Fen for the Dem spin, though.

Good point re NH going Demo. It's worth adding that the demographics have been changing there for a couple of decades. But the Democratic party looks strong in most places.

South Carolina will give us some additional info.

    Iowa caucuses:
220,588 for Democrats, compared to 124,000 who participated in 2004.

114,000 for Republicans. The last contested Republican caucuses in 2000 drew 87,666.

So yes, the GOP had record numbers, but they were still nearly 2-1 outcaucused by Democrats.

Yeah, but Lyman only has a fleeting relationship with reality.
