Here's a classic example of why the republicans are dead. They're all afraid to say our health care system sucks.

They all said the "US has the best health care system in the world'' (except maybe crazy Ron Paul)

Yea it probably is, but you only get to use it if you're rich.

Meanwhile, on facebook, a poll question "Do you agree the US has the best health care in the world'' 84 percent said no.

Not scientific, obviously, but still, pretty indicative in my book.

If the GOP wants to run in the general on the health care status quo being fine, far be it from me to attempt to dissuade them.

    Any updates on the Dems?

Unfortunately the speakers on my computer here at work suck so I can't hear the debate. But those of you at work with speakers that are decent can watch it here:

ABC's news website has a fair blog about what's going on here:

    Facebook rulz!

OK, Zeke, here's what I got:

When Hillary speaks I think harpy
When Edwards speaks I think smarmy
When Obama speaks I think Barry White (I don't think the man has any business near the Oval Office, but he is smooth)

The dems have been kind of weird - almost like teams. Obama and Edwards (change) vs. Richardson and Hillary (experience).

They're really getting along pretty well, though, especially compared to the other guys.

There, it was more like "gang up on Mitt'' and "don't react to anything Ron says"

Bill Richardson has way too much experience to be up on that stage.

Richardson is sticking around for a VP slot I don't think he'll get.

Cabinet yes, on the ticket, I don't think so.

It's so wonderful, isn't it, that there remain those who want women to return to the Day of the Coathanger? Some things never cease to amaze.

Abortion is ugly business. But women who are in a relationship in which birth control devices are conscientiously used deserve the availability of the option.

As for those who disagree: it's none of your business. Live your own lives, busybodies.

    Dead on.

    If it's Hil or Obama, a white male's #2.

I think Omar nailed it on the Iowa thread: It's gonna be Webb if Obama wins the nomination.

Mitt took a beating, especially from McCain (he seems to be really pissed about ain immigration ad Romney's running against him "you can spend all your money on those ads, it still won't be true''). Even Huck got in a shot at him. Rudy must think he needs Romney to survive for a while, he's laying off him.

Another bad sign for the republicans from the facebook polls - 50 percent of people responding - over 8,000, thought they should have spent more time on the economy. Their big-ticket issues (immigration and war in iraq) came in last (also behind environment and health care) with around 10 percent each.

In another poll, 61 percent said the most surprising thing in the debate was Romney saying "The drug companies aren't the bad guys" He may regret that.

    Also,
70-plus percent (a whopping 39,000 respondents) think the economy will be weak next year. Only 2 percent said it will be strong (20 percent said it will be "fine)

But then again, 41 percent (about 11,000) in another one of their polls said Ron Paul looked most presidential out of the republicans (Huck was second with 25 percent).

I agree Fenian. Partial Birth Abortions do not seem unreasonable once you understand the process. Here is a little diagram. [IMG]

The process is a slippery slope for physicians though.
