Buy crossword and Sudoku books at the local grocery store. Surely those are untouched.

I'm picturing you floating in the water, typing with both hands above the water.

Here is my place, 10th floor, did fine with Matthew. This one will be tougher though. Good luck to everyone in the way. This was Monday morning, taken for me by some one, I don't live there yet.

Looking over the list of landfalling U.S. hurricanes, no direct hits but a few cities or counties that were almost certainly affected.
Alicia and Alice, Texas in 1983.
Gaston and Gaston, North Carolina in 2004.
Georges and George County, Mississippi in 1998.
    That's all I've got.

Also, in looking over the list, I noticed it was 30 years ago this week (Sept. 10) that another Hurricane Florence made landfall in Louisiana. There was a third Florence that hit the Florida panhandle in late September 1953.
Florence is the gift that keeps on coming back to kick our ass.

The names are supposed to be retired when they're really bad, not sure if that's a relatively new policy at the NHC. Guessing this will be the last go-round for Florence.

Previous Florences were Category 1 storms, I believe. Minimal damage.
There was also an Isaac in 2012, and another Isaac on the way right now.

Wilmington is liable to get seriously hurt.

There is a rotating six-year list of names that is in use and they just change the name with the letter when it gets retired. When the 2017 list comes back around in 2023 Harvey will get replaced

This is weird. NHC track has made a MAJOR shift to the south over the past 18 hours.

There is a website called windy.com that's kind of cool to look at. It showed the hurricane coming ashore in NC and then barreling across SC long before the other weather sites were doing so.

And now it shows it never hitting NC at all . . . just stalling a few miles off the coast near Wilmington, then hugging the SC coast before coming ashore around Beaufort.

    Windy as forecasted

I left my car at the Charlottesville airport for the week. I hope it doesn't get washed away while I'm gone.
