No. Janet Napolitano is just profiling Canadians again.

I've been thanking Tebow all week that I chose to drive instead of fly for Christmas.

Judging by what I was seeing last night on the talking head channels, over-under on Napolitano's forced resignation is three weeks or when Congressional hearings start, whichever comes first.

Wow, is there anything you're not an expert on? I mean besides journalism.

I said yesterday that she has to go. That "the system worked" quote is unforgivable. Seriously? The system worked? Had the guy not been such a dolt, the plane would have blown up 20 minutes from Detroit.

Time to start profiling instead of inconveniencing all travelers.

At which point the terrorists will start recruiting disaffected white people.

I don't really get why it's such a problem if people do recognize air marshals. If the guy had blown the plane up, what good would an air marshal who was undercover had been? If the guy knew there was a marshal on board, maybe he doesn't even try it. If there was a police officer in uniform on every plane, I don't get why that wouldn't be as effective a deterrent as having an air marshall disguised as a frat boy. I get that after the fact it's nice to see some guy break cover and come to the rescue. But being unrecognizable doesn't seem like that big of a necessity. I'm sure they do have their reasons, since as people have said the air marshals themselves want to blend in better. But what exactly is the reason for not wanting visible security?

The rationale I've seen is that the marshall then becomes a target. Terrorists know exactly who to disarm first and if that visible security person is packing, then all that needs to be done is neutralize the marshall/cop and now they have a weapon.

Because there aren't air marshals on all flights, so if they're recognizable, so is their absence.

And putting one on every flight would be extremely expensive. You can't just put them on high-profile routes, because then the hopper from Atlanta to Fort Walton Beach stands out like a beacon.

    ETA: And what Dyno said.

So is the Canadian version of TSA going to reimburse every passenger who has his/her computer destroyed in the baggage hold?

An act of terrorism could cost you your NIAFL crown.
