The guy sitting next to them in the turban is the terrorist.

I agree with your point but it is not always the suits/blazers. My buddy will fly looking like a businessman or a college student. He blends in easily.

    Awesome. That's racist, and it's wrong! A Boom two-fer.

I am 6' 3" 255 and board early due airline status. I am now going to make it a point not to travel wearing blue blazer.

As usual, these measures are ridiculous and don't really accomplish anything. Especially since they're casually enforced or enforced stupidly.

I flew into Detroit Metro yesterday and thankfully arrived before incident No. 2. When we got on the plane and for all of the time up until they were just about ready to leave, the cockpit door was wide open. Seems kind of silly to have spent all that money on those bulletproof doors when the pilots leave them open, doesn't it?

Anyway, my fiance has somehow gotten himself on the "watch" list because he has an extremely common name. As it's Irish, I'm guessing some member of the IRA probably has the same name, landing the name on the watch list. This adds to the annoying delays every time we check in now. But here is what they do: Oh, you're on the watch list. I am? Airline employee hits a few buttons, then turns to fellow airline employee and says, he's on the watch list and I'm printing his boarding pass. I guess they have to actually say that to get a witness or something. How this prevents anything is beyond me but at least it results in only a minor delay. How they figure out that he's not actually the terrorist on the watch list also is beyond me.

Also, we had all our hand baggage rechecked out at the gate again. A return to post-9/11 hassles there.

As for Nigerian No. 2 with the "stomach problems," OK, I know I'm known as a conspiracy theorist around these parts but I don't think you have to be a rocket scientist to think, hmm, Nigerian, leaving on exact same flight with exact same number on exact same route, using exact same MO to go into the bathroom for a long time right before the flight lands. I'm gonna say he got cold feet rather than stomach problems. I hope they're at least keeping tabs on this guy since they released him.

And note to Northwest, Delta or whatever you're calling yourself these days, don't you think it's about time to return that flight number? Just sayin'.

Have they changed the rules? A former co-worker's husband is a TSA agent.

(He took me to a firing range once. Wow, was he an accurate shot. You would not want to start any trouble with him on-board.)

They used to have to wear a blazer. The agents were trying to get the rule changed because they felt it helped to identify them -- especially on leisure routes or on certain airlines (Southwest).

Maybe. He has been a Marshall for a little more than year.

They failed at their job, so the 99.9% of us who travel with no intent to harm anyone are punished.

I'm quitting my job at the newspaper to open a stand that sells Depends at our international airport.

TSA had nothing to do with this guy ability to get on the plane in Amsterdam.

He didn't board in Amsterdam. He boarded in Nigeria, I believe.

    TSA doesn't work there, either.

Sanity rules once again. TSA backs off on security measures.
