Quiet night for us here in the frigid Toronto 'burbs. Maybe get some pizza, watch a little hockey and I suspect I will be in bed long before the clock strikes 12.

Happy New Year, all, and let's be careful out there!

Shortribs and mashed potatoes at home followed by desultory watching of Ryan Seacrest. Probably check out long before midnight, but Alice and I do have one bottle of our Christmas dinner champagne left, so there's an incentive to stay up. No incentive to go out, it's 4 degrees with a good stiff northwest wind right now. Happy New Year to all!

Kind of cooked out from Christmas, so going way low-key (for me). Will probably sip a second-half homebrew (got a spiced holiday ale and a golden ale on tap), then whip up a filet au poivre with a nice red blend alongside. Got a couple of slices of Cheesecake Factory cheesecake on hand for dessert.

Will get home from work at 7 p.m.

Wife going to bed at 7:15 (she gets up for work at 2 a.m.).

The math is not on our side.

First New Year's Eve in a long time I haven't had to work, meaning I'll finally avoid the harrowing drive home (South Florida drivers are bad enough already without adding alcohol and who knows what else to the mix). Some friends will be over soon and we'll cook some burgers and turkey sausage on the grill. Won't be a late night. My goal is to be in bed shortly after midnight, sleep in tomorrow and settle in for a long day of bowl-watching.

My wife cooked enough to feed a small army and I have half a bottle of Bushmills and a six pack of jingle java. All are welcome.

Home. Up early for work so not trudging downtown for the dual fireworks shows. Happy New Year to you all.

Just got done working, so it'll be a few hours of video games and trying to console our scared dog (the neighbors started shooting fireworks around 6 p.m.) until bed time.
Wife and I are both homebodies, but I did have off yesterday and we went to a concert. Got her drunk enough that we dropped the ball a little early.
