I was absolutely expecting my company to ditch print after the election and Black Friday (or cut to a couple days a week, which may as well be the same thing). And that was before the pandemic.

His newspapers are a major part of Rupert's power over politicians. (And Fox News, of course.) He'll keep what he needs around as long as he needs it.

Seriously, it's time for more places to start charging. $10 to $15 a month is nothing.

Is anyone part of the former Postie newsletter? Apparently there are 1,200 people on it, and I'd be curious to know how to get on it.

    Are you still expecting that?

You'd be out of business in a month.

Pretty much, if it's Chatham or another hedge fund. But the bankruptcy sale has a July 24 deadline for a buyer to be approved. Twentysomething bids have been submitted.

If it's another chain . . . have no idea what it means (other than mass layoffs).

Sounds like shitty news all around. How close are you to retirement?

2 years, 10 months. Close enough.

New York Magazine and its related sites charge five bucks a month. (That's without the print magazine.)

If crime and gossip in the Big Apple doesn't go for ten, it's time to close up shop.

You said that more places need to charge and that $10 - $15 is nothing. That's $120 to $180 a year. That would be suicide for probably 90% of the publications out there.

The economy is in the toilet and more and more people are trying to figure out where they could cut expenses. Jacking up subscription prices is a non-starter.

    50 cents a day times 30 days a month is $15.

Give the folks a discount for subscribing rather than picking it up at the newstand and make it $10 a month.

Maybe it's time we stop devaluing our own product.
