    Once again, a team wastes a timeout rather than take the 5 yards, which is almost always a bad bargain.

    Comparing this to something like Pot Odds in poker, the Saints on average will put up more than 200 yards in a half, so the 5 yards is about 1/40th of the offense they'll post in a half. Meanwhile, teams only get three timeouts in a half. So they've burned 33% of their timeouts to save 2.5% of their yardage offense for the half.

    And as that touchdown drive proves, they easily would have overcome the 5 yards.

    Great stat: Cardinals averaging 49 yards per play ... and trail.

    No, I think the NFL Competition Committee decided for the 2009 playoffs to not call any penalties where VISITING quarterbacks get smacked. :)
