So it's OK when athletes average less than 4.0 YPC and 8.0 YPR? I guess I missed that memo too, that it's OK for athletes to produce at rates less than the average NFL running back.

Every player sits out when injured? Also must have missed that memo. So did Jeremy Shockey and Kurt Warner, apparently.

And you're really going to compare Reggie to Anquan Boldin? When Reggie takes a hit like this, and misses just two games, we can talk about his toughness.

And I am in fact insufferable, but at least I don't pretend to know how you approach people in an interview setting.

Roethlisberger and Montana have done it as well.

As for Reggie Bush, he is what he is at this point. Is he a LaDainian Tomlinson, 1,600-yard, 15-TD rusher like some thought he would be? No. But he's not been the crushing disappointment some would lead you to believe, either. He's a major role-player on one of the best offenses in the NFL. He has 32 touchdowns in 52 career games, which is nearly one every game-and-a-half, a better ratio than a lot of guys who aren't widely considered busts.

Here's the deal on Reggie Bush.

There is no understating how important it was that the Saints got the opportunity to draft him. It was right after Katrina and the miserable season that followed that disaster, then suddenly, the Saints – the Saints! – got a stroke of good fortune. I was at Jazzfest the weekend of that draft and it was amazing to see the turnaround in people's attitudes.

There is also no understating how talented the guy is. In his four seasons, he has made some plays that just make your jaw drop. Defenses have to account for him on every single play that he's on the field.

However, anyone who thinks he has lived up to the hype or come close to playing up to his potential is living in a dream world. He's been injury-prone and frustratingly inconsistent. Even Jim Henderson (Saints PBP guy) said that just tonight: "he'll make four or five plays that make you scratch your head."

That said, tonight was the first time I saw the Reggie Bush that we all saw at Southern Cal. He made what I believe was the biggest play of the game on the Saints' first drive. They had a third-and-2 and were looking at a three-and-out after the Cards' opening TD. He took a pitch (or maybe it was a swing pass, can't recall) around right end, and instead of searching for the sideline, like he's done in the past, he turned it upfield and just clocked a defender on his way to a first down. That got the Saints going and they never let up.

Reggie Bush was the difference for New Orleans tonight and if he plays like that the rest of the way, I don't see any of the teams left in this tournament that can stop the Saints.

I sure hope that doesn't happen to me!

The problem with that, albert, is that Bush has never shown the ability to do this consistently. He has a big play or a big game here and there and then he disappears again.

Not that the Saints can't win if he does disappear again. They've done plenty of it this season.

At this point, if Reggie Bush is Darrin Nelson, the Saints should consider themselves blessed.

Dierdorf should not be able to do Colts games in the same way that Nantz should be barred from Patriots games. There's admiration and there's tonguing a guy's ass for three hours.

Dierdorf shouldn't be allowed to call any NFL games in the same way that I shouldn't be allowed to play in them, because he sucks worse at calling them than I would at playing in them.

Only you and Care Bear know how hard I laughed at this.

Admit it dude: Your heart was pounding as you raced to the keyboard to type that, hoping to beat us to it. :D :D :D

You're damn right. And once I did, I was starting to get pissed no one picked me up. :D
