They may yet lose today. And could certainly lose to the Saints. But let's not read too much into the Saints ripping the worst defense this side of the Arena League. Vikings can certainly win in New Orleans.

And as for the final series of the half, it was deja vu with the infamous 1999 title game. Everyone remembers Gary Anderson's miss and Denny's kneeling down at the end of the game. But at the end of the first half, with the Vikings leading 20-7 and deep in their own territory, instead of kneeling, Cunningham dropped back and fumbled. Falcons recovered and scored to make it 20-14 at halftime, completely changed the game.

Reading an old AP story from that loss to the Falcons:

Give Moss credit, he's been disappearing at inopportune times ever since he entered the league.

I wouldn't wish a career ending injury on a cheap shot to anyone, but ...

Spineless call. A field goal does no fucking good there.

Did anybody really think Suisham would make that?

    Me neither.

When did the NFL start allowing QBs to jerk their heads/hands/feet while doing a hard count. Romo does this all the time. Favre, too, to some degree. That used to be a false start, no?

    Favre's been doing it forever.

They're not exactly having the easiest time passing the ball, or at least giving their QB time to pass the ball, either.

I hate that kind of defensive holding call.

They say you could call offensive holding on every play if you wanted to. Well, you could probably call two defensive holdings on every play, but it's rarely called.

I like the punt there -- a long field goal -- 53 yards or so --- is too much of a risk of giving the Cowboys the ball in good field position.
