Russell in year three: 2-7 as a starter, 3 TDs, 11 INTs, 50.0 QB rating. Plenty of good QBs have had horrible rookie years. But a no. 1 pick doing that in year three...almost unfathomable.

I realize we're arguing crap vs. crap here and that both players are historic fuckups, but for what it's worth, I think Russell is worse.

Leaf in year three: 1-8 as a starter (1-10 in games played), 11 TDs, 18 INTs, 56.2 QB rating. And he was out of the league after his fourth season.

Unless Russell vanishes after next season, I have to think Leaf is worse, especially given how passionate the Manning-Leaf debate was in some circles and how many people viewed Russell as a questionable pick the moment the Raiders made the selection.

But every once in a while, Russell shows flashes, like beating the Broncos this year. Leaf never reached the point of being mildly tantalizing.

The only reason Leaf even got a fourth year was because Jerry Jones was down to seeds and stems when Quincy Carter got hurt and needed a warm body to finish another 5-11 year.

Still, Leaf went 2 and Russell went 1

Without swimming through 25 pages; A couple of observations.

Wade is gone; So is Norv.

A Saints/Colts or Colts/Vikings Superbowl could go down as 2 things.

    1. Highest scoring Superbowl ever.
    2. Highest rated Superbowl ever.

Deep down, Roger was hoping like hell not to have a Cardinals v. Jets Superbowl. Well, he got half of it right out of the box.

Don't think the Jets have a chance in hell now.

Part of me roots for Cinderella; Other part of me thinks she is a whore who can't keep her shoes on.

Will Norv finally get fired today?

I wouldn't bet the farm on that.

If Indy doesn't beat the Jets by double figures, I will be surprised.
A late FG will decide the NFC title game and I don't think the Saints advance.

Wade Phillips' future depends on who else Jerry Jones can find that wants the job. If Cowher comes calling, Wade's ass is out the door. If he can't attract a big name, Wade is probably safe for now.

As far as the Super Bowl goes, I'm kind of torn. As long as it isn't the Jets, the Colts vs. Saints or Vikings should make a good game. But I'd rather see the Jets win the Super Bowl than Brett Fucking Favre.

I guess my ideal matchup is Indy vs. NO. But Favre vs. Manning could be one for the ages. The one thing I absolutely don't want to see is Favre beating anyone. It would be cool if he led them to an NFL-record fifth Super Bowl loss though.

If you don't already wholly understand that Jones isn't going to fire Phillips for at least another year, you're simply not paying attention.

I believe you, but can you explain why not?
