Argument against Bell - how good would the Steelers be without him? Are they still 9-5? Because I think they'd still be close to it. His game log doesn't read like an MVPs either. Under 100 vs. NYJ, MIA, NE, BAL, DAL, big numbers vs. CLE, a porous IND d, NYG, BUF and CIN. His best game was his first one, but there isn't a game other than KC - at least to me - where I say he won it for Pittsburgh.

This is one of the more idiotic paragraphs of Rhody's lifetime, which is saying something for Rhody.

How many of the Raiders' wins are because of Carr? All of them, more or less. He plays for a team that has allowed 24+ points eight times. They have won five of those games. They won a game when they set the NFL record for penalties and needed him to throw for 513 yards and four TDs. They came back to win in Baltimore on his fourth TD pass (in both 4-TD games, he threw no INTs).

Why do people try to sound like authorities on things they know absolutely nothing about? Carr has slumped lately, probably enough to take him out of the running, but he has done as much for his team as anyone in the league.

NFL record 379 yards after halftime too.

  5. Why not apply that argument to Carr?
As I've stated before.. No way Raiders are 11-3 w/o Carr. And a Win is a win. Who cares if it's 1 point or 30? Its the NFL.
Brady ... We know how the Pats do without Brady - they went 3-1.

You wanna hand out QB of the Year - yeah, Carr's out and its a 3-way race between Brady, Aa-ron and Ryan.
MVP? Come on man, It's clearly Carr.

With Brisett they were shut out at home vs Buffalo. Schedule wasn't the toughest, but could easily see 3 or 4 more losses without Brady.

Brisset played that game with an injured thumb on his throwing hand that landed him on IR, mind you, but the Pats were forced to start him or Edelman at QB. The Bills are good enough that a season split between the teams isn't a stunner.

And their schedule wasn't only "not the toughest," it's been the absolute easiest in the NFL. Look at the schedule. If Brady were out for the season, the Pats would still finish 11-5 or 12-4 with a 1 or a 2 seed and Garroppolo would end up becoming some team's mistake in the offseason, a la Matt Cassell.

Ryan's been better, and he's played all 14 games this season. He's been more valuable than Brady.

Actually, I said aside from one 83-yard screen, he has not been much of a factor in the passing game. Take out that one play and he has 268 yards on 30 receptions. He is also taken out of games often on third downs and even in two-minute drills.

He's not Jerome Bettis bad as a receiver and from what I've seen, he is a very good pass blocker. Maybe the assessment is a little unfair, but he is clearly far less useful in that area than Bell.

"Far less useful in that area than Bell" is not the same as your previous statements that he is "limited" or "has not been much of a factor." Neither of those previous statements is true.

But that's as close as you'll get to admitting you're wrong, so I will take it.

For anyone saying it should be Brady, how do you account for him missing four games? In any other sport, missing a quarter of the season pretty much disqualifies you from MVP consideration.

They wouldn't even be close to the same team. DeAngelo Williams was great in his place early last season and had one great game out of three this year, but he isn't even close to Bell's level. There is a reason he barely sees the ball when Bell is healthy. He averaged under three yards per carry in two of his starts in place of Bell this season.

Also, Williams hasn't played since Nov. 6 due to a knee injury, so they would have turned to third-string plugger Fitzgerald Toussaint. Given how Bell carried the offense during much of the current five-game winning streak, it is silly to claim they would be in the same position. Best game was his first one? Did you mean Cleveland? Um, no. That wasn't as good as the games against the Giants or Bills.

With Williams hurt, Dallas has better options behind Elliot than Pittsburgh has behind Bell.

He is limited. That is why he is often on the sideline on third down or during two-minute drills. And you misquoted my other statement, because I specifically mentioned the one impact play against the Steelers.

I admit when I'm wrong, but this wasn't one of those cases. Not that you care about being right if you can take another shot at me.
