Damn! Courtney Brown, Ki-Jana Carter, and now Curtis Enis? Throw in Blair Thomas and D.J. Dozier and that's a lot of fail coming out of one school.

You've forgotten the overhype that went with those two. It was like listening to Alfred in The Dark Knight Rises: "The speed! The ferocity!"

    Most of it never materialized.

I don't think you understand what a bust is. Anyway, moving on ...

Different definitions of a bust do seem to be an issue on this thread.

Very good list. Going to add Aundray Bruce...number one overall for the Falcons in 1988, Steve Emtman with the Colts number one overall in 1992 (I think).

    Emtman was derailed by injuries.

Interesting interview of Cooley just now. Basically absolved Gruden of any responsibility in this mess by saying he hasn't made any of the decisions since becoming coach, including the latest one.

    Who interviewed him?

And he's saying that Gruden didn't want to bench RG3 and name Cousins starter?

    Huh?

Mandarich's bust factor is amplified by who got picked around him. Four of the first five players taken turned out to not just be Hall of Famers, but almost instant Hall of Famers. They were obviously on that track after just a couple of years in the league. Hell, two of them (Sanders and Sanders) might be the best to ever play their respective positions. Against that standard, even being a mere Pro Bowl caliber player would've made him look like a moderate bust.
It probably didn't help that there were seven regular Pro Bowlers taken in the middle of the first round that they didn't get either.
And yet somehow the Packers still won a Super Bowl within a decade of that screwup and have been one of the NFL's best franchises for the past 25 years. So I think they've shaken it off.

Back to Richardson, he deserves consideration for being a bust for two teams. The Browns quickly bailed on him after wasting a first rounder, then the Colts gave up a first rounder. That's a distinction not many draft busts achieve.

Along the same lines, I think Andre Wadsworth gets off the hook a little bit because he was drafted right after Ryan Leaf. But Wadsworth was just as big a bust.
