It's irrelevant if he or others feel it is a punishmnet.

If he or the union feel like he was unjustly punished there is a process for that. Want to bet whether he files one or not?

Mandela, the West Memphis Three, and Greg Hardy...

I have Outside the Lines on in the background as I work and they are talking about Brett Favre having his jersey retired this year.

This is how it reads in big letters on the screen. Not the crawl.

"Brett Farve to return to Green Bay this year for jersey retirement."

It is a punishment. There is no question about that. And a failure by the union to act is not a fair judge. Just like they league, they are concerned about being weak on the issue of domestic violence.

The simple concept is innocent people should not be punished. It is amazing how many people on this board have trouble with that idea.

What's amazing is that you don't get the difference between a court of law and an employer.

There is nowhere that says a player is ENTITLED to play. He was paid, that's the team and or employers obligation.

JC, you aren't understanding the point, which I'm sure is due to a lack of trying. You are sharp enough to get it if you would consider the issue with an open mind.

The team certainly has a right to act. The league does as well, though it should base its actions on precedent or written policy. All I'm saying is this demonstrates the drawback to acting before the legal process plays out, the possibility of an innocent man being punished. From the information we have, was there ever anything but an accusation against Hardy? The charges have been dismissed. It is not like the Roethlisberger case, where the DA announced no charges would be filed, but at the same time released a great deal of information demonstrating how despicably he had acted.

Point being, it is absolutely possible that Hardy was punished for an act he did not commit. If you think that is acceptable, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

They're saying Tannehill's deal is going to be about seven years, $105 million. Obviously, the only thing that matters is how much is guaranteed.

But $15 million a year for Tannehill? Wow...

I'm dying to see what Wilson gets.

This is exactly what has been suggested repeatedly here. But I'm not going to feel too sorry for Hardy. I wouldn't say he's innocent ... it seems the charges were dismissed after the accuser settled her civil suit and no longer wanted to go to another trial and couldn't be found. He wasn't exactly exonerated.

I remembering arguing with a players' agent who called to yell at me after I wrote an unflattering story about his woman-beating client.

"Pleading No Contest three times is not the same as being found not guilty."

Better than the Dalton, Cutler or Kaepernick deals.

I've read that Rodgers' contract is the starting point for negotiations. That was $54 million guaranteed, $30 million the first year. I think Cutler got the same guarantee, but it was spread out.

    Flacco got $29 million guaranteed.
