$60M in guarantees....how does that compare with the other big-time-paid QBs?

    Newton's deal for comparison:

    Rodger's 5-year deal had $54m guaranteed.

    Brees 5-year, $40m guaranteed.

Roethlisberger got $64M guaranteed & Kaepernick got $61M.

So Wilson will tie Newton for third-most.

All these figures are misleading. There's injury guarantee and guaranteed money. The Niners can out of Kaepernicks deal without paying him 60 million

Kaepernick got 3/$42M with an endless series of optional renewals. Very little of it was guaranteed, no matter how many reporters fell for the agent bullshit.

Why do reporters keep falling for that anyway?

    Not according to this:

Third number is the guaranteed (it goes Total, avg/year, guarantee, avg guar/year, %guaranteed, FA year).

These NFL contracts are so funny to me. Used to be, it was reported straight up like "5 years, 50 mil, 10M/AAV." Then, it became "5 years, 50 mil, 10M/AAV but only 20 guaranteed." Now, it's "5 years, 50 mil, 10/AAV, but only 20 guaranteed for injury and REALLY just 12 guaranteed LIKE FOR REAL GUARANTEED y'all!!"

    Hilarious.
