That was the question in my mind. That he couldn't beat out Fromm years ago doesn't tell us what Fields is now. Once upon a time, Joe Flacco couldn't beat out Tyler Palko at Pitt. That is how he ended up at Delaware before becoming a first-round pick and a very good NFL quarterback.

If we assume Lawrence and Wilson will be game one starters this fall, a safe assumption I think, then the number of starting QBs who WEREN'T first round draft choices is very short. I make it Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Dak Prescott, Kirk Cousins and Ryan Fitzpatrick. It's worth noting, however, that a larger number of those first rounders are not with their original team.

Just FYI, those guys are probably still those same heights.

I've listened to way more draft stuff than I ever wanted to. I have never heard a qb get dinged more than Justin Fields did for this Indiana game.

If I am reading this correctly, there are people out there who are claiming that a qb, who was voted unanimous MVP of the entire league in one of the first four years that he has been playing, is a bust.
Can you identify who these people are?

Jesus fucking christ, I must be taking crazy pills. Or a lot of other people are.

Boston's leading sports talk show host, Michael Felger, is emphatic about his belief that Jackson just isn't very good and holds the Ravens back. Of course, he's recently taken to ripping Aaron Rodgers, too.

Lamar Jackson is not considered a bust by really anyone.

But they are people who blow off his MVP Award.

I think he's pretty good - one of the top ten QBs in the NFL. I also think, he keeps running like this, he going to get hurt. Josh Allen, too. Carson Wentz had more dipshit runs per capita than any QB I've seen and it's caught up to him. Russell Wilson is a great runner, but genius at not taking heroball hits.

To paraphrase a basketball coach who once testified that he banged a crazed groupie on the table of an italian restaurant, and completed his act in fifteen seconds, "Tom Brady and Drew Brees aren't walking through that door, fans."

I think there could be something to the argument that Jackson's arm is such a limiting factor that you can't win a Super Bowl with him, but you can rack up regular season wins with him. Even if that's true, well, it kind of diminishes the fact that you need to win in the regular season, y'know. I also don't think the sample size of his games is large enough to make such a conclusion, and also, he's only 24.

Lamar Jackson has been a great find for the Ravens. I do wonder how great he will be when he’s off his rookie contract and the Ravens have to start shedding parts to afford him. I think that’s an underrated factor in some of the quarterback drop offs we see.

Wilson can be effective without running. Jackson can't. The offense is a beast to stop because the running game is so versatile, but if Jackson has to carry them with his arm, that usually isn't going to go well.
