The talk show chatter here in Boston has given up on Garoppolo and moved on to Bridgewater. Dynasties make people lazy. That's how they fall. The chatter isn't "is this guy good enough?" it's "can we get him for the right price?" That is, it's team with Brady thinking in a team without Brady world. If you're dickering over price about your next QB, then he's not who you want, because the one you want is worth whatever the market bears and then some. The Pats wound up trading three first round picks to get Belichick. That turned out OK.

Well ... Christian McCaffery has most of Paul Hornung's skills without his gambling pangs.

Seriously ... no arguments here, MG, though the thought is appreciated.

The Panthers' group of receivers and McCaffery is an upgrade, even with Curtis Samuel gone to Washington. Tight ends could use work ... could Carolina go after the guy from Gainesville? The line is, to be kind, a work in progress. They've signed at least three and tagged Taylor Moton (a good player, but not worth the tag IMO).

There should be plenty of options, though, and can the defense come together after drafting and signing a bunch of kids going into last season? Darnold doesn't play defense, but a strong defense should mean that Darnold takes fewer chances and cuts down on the dumb plays.

There's speculation here the Pats might go after Bridgewater. If so, Carolina's in position to drive a hard bargain.

The Panthers would do just about anything, IMO, to make that happen.

Getting anything in a deal is gravy. The real deal for Carolina would be getting his $22.9M cap number off the books.

If it happens, do Teddy and Newton really get into a revenge tour?

They're going to have draft a good one to get back to being a true contender.

Carolina was picking 8th. They could have gotten a guy at 8.

He’s got $10 million guaranteed coming to him this year. If they want to cut him, he’ll make more combined somewhere else.

They are still picking 8th and obviously feel they can’t.

    How do you know?
Have you talked with all the GMs above the Panthers on the draft board?
If you've seen all the activity with teams at the top trading away picks to move up, are you sure about that?
