Steven Jackson opts out if the final year of his deal and is a free agent. You biting? He's only 29, but, well he's a 29-year-old running back.

It depends how much he wants... I don't think he's getting another big deal, but he could definitely go to a team like Indy or Green Bay or Detroit... I don't think there will be a huge market for him. There aren't many teams that need a back.

I disagree, Mizzou. Every team needs a back. The ones that have one need two.

Indianapolis could use one. Pittsburgh could use one. Bad teams like Miami could use one. Arizona desperately needs one. Even Seattle could use a backup to Lynch.

As a Packers fan, I wouldn't at all mind seeing him on the tundra.

Pittsburgh might not be a bad fit... Same with Atlanta... I don't see Jackson as being willing (at least not at this point) to go somewhere and be a backup...

He opted out, but I'm guessing the Rams were going to ask him to restructure his deal anyway... Now he can test the market. I think Atlanta, Indy and Green Bay would be three teams where he could go and have a big impact next season.

They haven't had a really good back since Ahman Green. Ryan Grant had a couple decent seasons, but he could never go up the middle for short yardage.

I think Jackson has two more pretty good years left. His YPC is still pretty good (4.1 last year and 4.4 in 2011) and he's been playing on some pretty bad teams. He only carried the ball 257 times last year. He's definitely not a back-up. I heard him on the radio a few months ago talking about how fed up he is with losing, so I'll be interested to see if he goes somewhere good, or if he signs with a Cleveland and gets paid one last time.

If he wants a ring, he should go to Green Bay or Atlanta.

I doubt anyone would, but a 15 or so touch a game Jackson could still be effective in the right offense.

Pittsburgh can't afford its own free agents. Jackson would be a great fit, but I doubt the Steelers can pay him what he would want.

I can't see him going anywhere as a backup, either. Not yet.

He's better than anyone they currently have, by a mile, but they are probably hoping for a big back dropping into the second or third round.

Green Bay would be a great fit for Jackson. So would the Giants.
