All of the experts have called this the worst draft since 1997, which 49ers fans will remember as they year they passed on Jake Plummer to take Jim Druckenrapist. I think Bill Walsh even signed off on the pick...

There seem to be quite a few mocks that don't have a single running back going in the first round...

Last year's draft was pretty exciting because everybody was familiar with the guys going 1-2. When offensive linemen and defensive linemen will be the majority of the top picks, a lot of people won't be too familiar with the names being called...

A 49ers "source" texted ESPN that on a scale of 1 to 100, there is a .001 chance of a Revis trade.

They also declined to franchise Goldson and are letting him test the waters.

It's pretty obvious they put very little premium on the secondary. In two years of Harbaugh-Baalke drafts they have taken one DB higher than the sixth round and their biggest signing has been Carlos Rogers, a low-price castoff from Washington.

I can see how Revis might scare some people off. Give up multiple picks and pay a fortune for a guy who has been injured for the better part of the last two seasons? I'd love to see them get him, but I get why they're not willing to go all in to get him.

Goldson will be interesting to watch. If it's true that people aren't going to be throwing around crazy contracts this year (although we seem to hear that a lot and it winds up being BS) then maybe he'll come back to the 49ers and they won't have to break the bank for him. I think the question will be will a top team offer him huge money? Is he willing to leave the 49ers to go to the Browns just to get paid? He might be, and if he is, more power to him....

They do need to upgrade the secondary, especially on pass coverage. I would think that between free agency, trades and the first few rounds of the draft, they add at least two guys who will help in coverage.

Two isn't many, but I don't know if they'll even go that far. Culliver, for all his idiocy as a human being, is a pretty good cover guy and could fight for a spot at corner. Goldson IMO was a big part of their coverage failures on the deep balls -- he is too in love with the big hit.

I'd like to see them roll the dice on a Woodson or Ed Reed who can make some smart plays and probably wouldn't cost much. Regarding the draft, I think the pattern has been set that they go big early.

Agreed... I think Whitner has the same issue as Goldson. He'd rather go for the big hit and the result is he gets burned a lot... I'll be very curious where Reed and Woodson wind up.

Do you think they re-sign Walker?

I don't think so. Backup tight ends seem easy to find, and a lot of his playmaking comes from their play designs. I think someone else could come in and run the same routes. He didn't have a very good year last year anyway.

I saw Adrian Wilson was cut by the Cardinals...

I know Woodson and Reed are going to get all of the attention, and they deserve that. They're guys who have played for Super Bowl champion teams and both are headed to Canton...

But I could see Wilson being a pretty good pickup for a team that needs a boost to its secondary.

And on the website. Made sense to at least try getting him to take a pay cut first. Now they have to hope Woodley decides he wants to be worth a damn again and get in shape.

Harrison strikes me as the type who will try to sign with another AFC North team.

Cincy would be an interesting fit for Harrison.

But what number would you give him? $5.1? $4.0?

It sucks seeing him go, but resigning Keenan Lewis is priority #1, IMHO.
