I respect what the Ravens have done the past 5 years, but I'm starting to get the feeling they sold their soul to Joe Flacco.

All apologies to DD, but I think there could be a few down years coming.

Dang that's a solid deal for the Niners.

SF vs. Seattle is going to be two absolute must-watches this year.

Yeah, that's right, Jags beat Pittsburgh and lost to New England during the Pats Super Bowl run after 2007.

So, that leaves the Raiders, Browns, Bills, Jaguars, Rams and Buccaneers (last trip was under Gruden in 07) as the only teams without at least one playoff spot in the past five seasons. So the point remains..... teams can retool quickly in the NFL.

All they gave up to get him is one sixth-round pick? Is there an injury we haven't heard much about?

    Maybe they'll release Michael Crabtree.

He'd better not bring that Super Bowl ring into the locker room.

No apologies needed to me. They're not my team, just one I know well. I think they're gambling on Flacco, but they don't have a choice really. Let him walk and they would have missed the playoffs for at least two years, maybe more. My contention has never been that Flacco is Brees, Brady or Manning caliber, just that he's been a bit unfairly maligned by the fantasy football mentality. He hit the market at the right time. He's overpaid, but sometimes you overpay for a player in his 20s.

Down years all depends on perspective. The Steelers went 8-8 and didn't make the playoffs. Down year? Yeah, but hardly a disaster.

You guys remember Boldin's playoff run, and it was great. But he was really average for most of the year. It's always a mistake to overpay for past performance and "heart" and "leadership."

I wouldn't be surprised if the Ravens went 9-7 or 10-6 next year and missed the playoffs. Happens to a lot of SB Champs/Runners up. I still think it's wiser to cut Boldin now than extend him till he's 35 or 36. He's already slow as shit.

Smart GM's never overvalue wide receivers.
