Maybe Jews don't hate their families as much as Christians so they don't need the nighttime distraction?

Mizzou, back in the mid '90s, the gate at home Patriots' games on Labor Day weekend was way down, lots of no-shows even though by then team was selling out all home games. I don't think they were alone and that's one reason the league pushed the schedule back a week. TV, needless to say, was the other.

That just always seems like such a dead weekend for sports...

Just let St. Louis play on Rosh Hashana. Have someone blow the national anthem through a Rams horn, capping it with a long teki'ah at the end -- and everyone wins.

Yeah, I remember former commish Tagliabue saying in 2001 they would never start the regular season on Labor Day weekend again. I'm OK with that, but I think they need to eliminate the dead week before the Super Bowl to avoid stretching into February.

Take a wild guess at the religious affiliation of the network chiefs and highly placed league honchos.

Yeah, I hate that the NFL season extends into February as much as I hate it when baseball season stretches into November...

Sure seems to be hurting the NFL. Nobody's watching those late playoff games.

Oh c'mon... The world will be clamoring to watch the $120 million quarterback play alongside a bunch of rookies and other players making the league minimum... :D

    Saints sign Asomugha

EDIT: not official. Saw a bad tweet.

Actually, for awhile in the 1980s, the Super Bowl champ usually opened on the road on Monday Night Football against a really tough opponent.

Whatever happens, I expect Ravens fans to whine incessantly. Their whining nob goes up to 11.
