Dawson was great last year and has been great, but you could have said the same thing about Akers until last season.

Obviously, Dawson is an upgrade. I think in a perfect world, you try to draft the next Blair Walsh, but guessing which kickers are going to transition from college to the NFL is such a crapshoot, that they may be much better off with Dawson.

I feel like Dawson is vastly underrated as a quality kicker. Mostly because he plays for a shit-ass team. He made 93.5% of his FGs last year (and I think at least one miss was a blocking fuckup that led to a blocked kick). 6 form 50+. He hasn't had a year where his % dipped below 82% since 2006 and he's only had 3 such years in his entire 13-year career (compared to 6 of those years for Akers). Akers missed as many field goals last year as Dawson has in his last 3 years combined.

Dawson is pretty much the man.

I don't know if he's underrated. The Browns were smart enough to hit him with the franchise tag, so obviously someone thinks he's pretty good...

Hitting 93.5 percent of your field goals while playing in bad weather is pretty insane. He also had his best season so far at age 37. He's basically the same age as Akers.

I wonder if he would be an upgrade over Foote? :)

No link that I can find yet, but Ed Reed is apparently going to Houston.

Depends on how much he thinks he is worth.

A nation of white males with neck tattoos and working in factories will need to get themselves a new #54 jersey by Week 1.

Yes, Donald's Driveway would have been a bit more clever.

Naw. This is the NFL and it's only March. Someone will sign him at a reduced rate before training camp.
