The rest of the decade. Yes. You definitely need seven years to evaluate a quarterback.

Flynn may not even get a full season. I like the move because they gave up very little and if he can occasionally play like he did against the Lions a couple years back, it's a steal...

It's still the Raiders, and they're still a trainwreck. No coach in the league has less job security than Dennis Allen.

What's to say the Raiders don't take a flyer on a QB in the second or third round in the hopes that they hit the jackpot like Seattle did last year? Hell, if the Raiders liked Geno Smith (I don't think they do.) they could still draft him. I don't think signing Flynn prevents them from doing anything.

Moeller was the only one of the eight who finished his Lions coaching career with a winning record (4-3).

I agree with that. But, given as many needs as they have at different positions, I wouldn't spend a first-rounder on a QB. Maybe you find a needle in the haystack in the later rounds like the Patriots did with Tom Brady.

I'm just not sold on Flynn as a regular NFL starter, anymore than I was on Kevin Kolb. Flynn was given every chance to win the starting job in Seattle last summer and couldn't even beat out a third-round pick for the job. But, hey, we'll see. All I can say at this point is they need to do everything in their power to make it work. Announce in May that he's your starter and be willing to put your coaching life on the line to make it work and not waver.

As much as I dislike Rex Ryan, at least I admire him for committing to Mark Sanchez and sticking with him because he understood that Sanchez was the best he had.

Yeah, there certainly is something to be said for kicking in domes. Morten Andersen is another guy who benefitted from kicking in a dome. Not taking anything from their accomplishments, but it is worth noting.

Did you even watch that third round pick play last year?

Mark still thinks the Seahawks should have given Flynn until 2019.

I always dreamed of being a kicker for a shitty franchise in a terrible city for two decades. Alas, my hopes were dashed long ago.

Jason Hanson's first game was a loss to the Bears in which the Bears won late on a TD pass from Jim Harbaugh to Tom Waddle.

Was Hanson the last active NFL player who played college ball in the 80s?
