    It's not a "sexy" draft.

Not loaded with glamor players but very solid building blocks.

So, want to start a pool about how many weeks into the season Colon makes it before he goes on IR? I'll be optimistic for him and guess 10. He's a beast as a run blocker, but terrible in pass protection and it is idiotic to count on him staying healthy at this point.

In terms of QB, RB, WR? Agree. But it's also not a draft with a lot of "franchise" players at the other, less sexy positions, either. None of the OTs have been compared to, say, Ogden or anyone. Even though that comparision is clearly premature and stupid. But they do that all the time. You rarely hear any of these projected first round guys compared to some of the best prospects from the past.

Now, that said, I'm sure some of them will turn out to be very good, if not great, players. But this draft oozes MEH from every aspect. And I'm still going to probably watch. Because I'm a dipshit.

Indeed. If those QB's are the answer, I'm not sure I want to know the question.

I remember the 2006 Draft was seen as a very "sexy" draft and the majority of the players taken in the top 10 were either busts or major disappointments.

The best players in that draft (Ngata, Cutler...) were taken outside of the top 10.

'tis amazing how often perceived 'sexy, can't miss' prospects indeed go on to be unsightly misses in the nfl. it's what makes draft scouting the most inexact of 'sciences' and such a popular annual off-fied event. i've always loved it.

I've always loved everything about the draft. Loved it as a kid. Loved covering it. Love following it now...

Fans (and media) dislike drafts where the top prospects are linemen because 1. They know it takes longer for linemen to develop as pros in most cases than skill guys and 2. They know even better (although few admit it) they are completely unable to assess the performances of all but a few pass rushing linemen.

Agree - a lot of fans do not understand linemen and likely never heard of them or watched them play in college.

Hell by the way some teams draft their scouts do not understand linemen.

I'm guessing Raiders fans were a lot more excited when they drafted JaMarcus Russell than Cleveland fans were when the Browns took Joe Thomas...

I know there are a few exceptions, but usually if an offensive lineman is taken in the top five or 10 picks in the draft, they become a starter immediately and are probably a much safer pick than the quarterbacks who are taken that high...
