What's funny is that it's still true. The last two champs were lucky to even make the playoffs. They underachieved all year and stumbled in ass backwards. The Giants are by no means a great team, but they are the Champs.

If the Giants had been healthy and clicking all year, then got a little banged up and out of sync in the playoffs, we'd be calling them the Green Bay Packers.

People forget that the regular season and post-season are two different things, especially at the pro level. When the
Giants were a middling regular-season team, they had injuries that compromised their identity as a team. Starting in December, they got their defensive line back, which gave them a defensive identity and they figured out how to piece together an offensive line and got Bradshaw back, which helped them piece together a presentable running game.

So it's clear going into the playoffs that they were much better than a 9-7 team. As opposed to Green Bay, which may suspected might not live up to its 15-1 billing, given that it had taken some backwards steps late in the season, mostly due to injuries.

Winning games in October doesn't mean a fucking thing unless you win some more in January.

The NFL season is a battle of attrition. This isn't new.

Obviously no way to prove this, but I still think Green Bay repeats if they avoid playing the Giants. If the Giants hadn't made it, I think GB would have been OK.

From the first time the Packers played them, they were the one team I did not want the Packers to have to play. It was an awful matchup for them. I wasn't afraid of the Saints, 49ers or Patriots, but I was definitely afraid of the Giants.

and the Giants probably don't win the NFC championship game at New Orleans but GB was No. 1 seed and lost at home. they didn't just lose they got their dicks kicked in the dirt.

And the Giants don't make the playoffs if they play in a real division. But I watched the games, and I know how badly Green Bay lost.

Plus, why the hell would the Giants play the 49ers in New Orleans? ;)

I don't see what the big deal is with that post. I said I didn't want the Packers to play the Giants because I thought they'd get fucked up and they did. I was desperately hoping for Atlanta or Detroit in the 2nd round. They got the Giants, got manhandled by their front four and lost. That's it.
