    OK.

Major difference in the ring, but I'll buy it.

    Um, what?

Aside from Dan Marino, there is no quarterback better known than Fouts for not having a ring.

I always swear I'm never going to take you seriously and then I respond anyway. My fault.

And his first Super Bowl team should have lost to the Raiders in the Divisional Round. They needed a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown, a punt return for a score (after an 80-yard net punt had been negated by a penatly) and Drew Bledsoe coming to the rescue after Brady got hurt in the AFC Championship game that year.

All three Super Bowl victories were relatively close, so you could also argue he's not that far away from not having any rings. Let's just stick to judging people on what actually happened, ok?

Whether or not a player wins a championship hinges on all sorts of factors beyond his control.

People said John Elway could never win the big one.... until he did. Ditto for Peyton Manning.... until he did. Marino, Jim Kelly, Fouts, Warren Moon and plenty of others never did, but still made the Hall of Fame.

Look at a list of SB winning QB and it's an eclectic mix of the Montanas and Bradshaws and Bradys of the world alongside Jeff Hostetler, Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, Mark Rypien, Doug Williams and others. QB gets too much praise when the team wins and too much blame when the team loses.

Well, yes. All five of Brady's Super Bowls could have gone either way. So he could be 5-0 or 0-5. I guess 3-2 sounds about right.

To be fair, the Patriots have had their share of playoff flops in the Brady years as well. And if the Denver secondary doesn't spring a leak at the worst possible time, the media is drooling over another Brady vs. Manning showdown.

This thread reminds me of the sig of a former poster. Something about heehaws.

  6. Tom Brady could have won every game he's played in, or lost every game he's played in. It could have gone either way.

The Brady/Manning argument is the new DiMaggio/Williams argument.

If Ray Lewis plays in the SB, I'll go hide in a cave before I put up with those two weeks of hype.

  11. If that turns out to be true just be glad the Super Bowl won't be in Miami!

  12. Drip.
