Wasn't he originally at Pittsburgh but got beat out by Tyler Palko?

That was my point. In that game, Flacco DID make the plays. His receivers dropped them.

Also, once again because y'all are so slow on this. Quarterbacks do not win games. Teams win games.

Yes. If I remember correctly, Palko was a redshirt freshman and Flacco was a true freshman.

Palko wasn't a terrible college quarterback and he was a little more athletic than Flacco, but he never had anywhere near Flacco's ability as a passer.

Palako was a very local player. He won something like 27 WPIAL football titles at West Allegheny. Hell, I actually remember talking to him and his old man when Tyler was a freshman.

That might have had something to do with it, but whio the hell knows with Pitt football?

Freshman in high school, not at Pitt.

I doubt Walt Harris gave a damn that Palko was a local high school hero. And it was three WPIAL titles. West Allegheny lost in the first round of the playoffs when he was a freshman.

I watched Palko lost to Ohio U in Solich's first game. Even then, against a MAC school, football looked too fast for him.

Pretty certain it was Wannstedt who told Flacco he'd never play, not Wlat.

    Damn. I think you're right.

Got to check the timelines somewhere other than Wikipedia, but I see where I got mixed up. I thought it was Palko's first full year as the starter, when he was a redshirt sophomore, that he beat out Flacco when Harris was the coach. Looks like Flacco didn't leave until after the following season, which was the first under Wannstedt.

My initial pain is gone. I am now once again ready to read the discussions about the NFL playoffs without my fangirl judgment clouding things up.

A partial fudge job, I'd say.

If Brady plays all of 2008, his playoff losses and home playoff losses number can only get bigger.
