Atlanta's linebackers are collectively a subpar group. The defense gave them a difficult dual responsibility. No wonder it didn't work. Also, has Mike Nolan ever HEARD of tight ends?

Jimmy was late for the group hug with the Kraft Klan, Donald Trump, the Bush Family, and the rest of the ruling classes. Feel sorry for him. He deserves all that -- and more.

Sharpe the Blowhard is lucky to have a job. What a waste of space.

No, Flacco is no RG3 but he also doesn't have cement shoes either.

The threat of a QB who can escape and break off a long run on 3rd and long scares the crap put of a defense.

The game is changing, some from athletic QBs and some from the rules that protect QBs. The balance is when to run and especially when to run out of bounds.

For once, Belichick is not on the edge of this and it is probably killing him. He is a coaching version of Gordon Gekko - a dominant but miserable character who gets played in the end.

This sums it perfectly. Not running for 189 yards. The threat of a QB running for 189 yards is even more potent.

I wonder how many more seasons Belichick has left. He seemed frustrated enough after the game that I wouldn't be stunned if he decided to retire.

  7. He's 60. I could see him sticking around at another 1-3 years, or however long Brady lasts.
So long as Brady is still good, Bill can ride the train to Canton.

I'm sure he was frustrated but hopes springs anew in a few weeks as teams start preparing for the NFL draft, mini camps and 2013 season.

Yeah, I think he wants to make sure his successor doesn't win a title with Brady and take away from his legacy...

I asked a friend who covers the Pats who would replace Belichick if he were to quit and he said they would go after Saban and that McDaniels would be the likely (distant) No. 2 choice, which surprised me... Maybe that was part of the reason why McDaniels opted not to interview for other HC gigs this off-season.

Instant red card in soccer. Probably a talking to from the FA, as well.

  11. So anyone think the NFL will review this and possibly levy a fine?

    Anyone?

It's so clear to me that it's intentional if you look at his eyes. I'm sure he'd argue he's trying to "protect" himself. By kicking another guy in the groin. It's really a shame he's turned into such a whiny, entitled, spoiled shit the last few years as not everything in life has come up roses. Because I really thought, for a spell, he was like the football DiMaggio. Classy, clutch, reserved, private.

In reality, he's just an asshole who is great at football. Which is fine. I'm the fool for believing he was something a little better. But he's still an asshole.
