If you're the Packers or the Niners would you rather host the Seahawks or travel to face the Falcons?

    Face the Falcons. Without question.

The combo of the Wilson-Lynch Read Option is not something the Packers would want any part of. They had trouble with the Webb-Peterson Read Option last night before the Vikings went away from that for some bizarre reason.

I'd rather have the Kaepernick-Gore combo for next week because they might be rusty and the pressure of a home playoff game could give Kaepernick the yips for a series or two.

I think every Packer fan is rooting for Atlanta to win next week. I said, two weeks ago, there was no way Rodgers would lose in a dome. Actually, there was: Peterson runs for 199 and Ponder plays a perfect game. Unless the Falcons can duplicate that with their running backs, there is no way Rodgers loses in a dome.

I think it's up to date. That would be my only warning.

I want to be home against the lower-seeded team.

Besides, the longer they go, the greater the chance the Seahawks' bubble will burst.

That may be true. But what the odds of him losing at home to the sea-chickens?

The Rodgers-era Packers are different from previous Green Bay model years. They operate best when the temperature is 68 degrees and playing on FieldTurf.

With a pass-heavy, timing-based offense, Green Bay simply plays better indoors. Fewer drops. Wind, cold weather and slick footing all negate speed and, to a lesser extent, Rodgers' accuracy.

There is a lot of chatter in Packerworld about why they only scored 24 points and that the offense isn't kicking on full capacity. I believe that, if the Vikings were any threat on offense in the third quarter, McCarthy could have easily opened the throttle and Green Bay would have put up 38 points.

Yet, as Webb proved to be wholly inaccurate, McCarthy put his ego aside and just wanted the win and to get out with everyone intact. Green Bay's playcalling once up 24-3 was just trying to run the clock out.

For next week, San Francisco is a real threat to Green Bay's shaky defense. Yet the Packers would also come in with a) the NFC's best QB, b) none of the pressure of playing at home and c) warmer weather than at Lambeau. I'll take those odds.

Of the Vikings-49ers-Falcons possibility of playoff paths, I truly believed the Vikings would be the hardest step for Green Bay of the three (assuming Ponder would have played).

Aren't you one of the people in favor of judging quarterbacks by wins and losses? If that is so, how can you say a good quarterback is just one player?

Yep, it proves how important the QB is, but that is the difference on a lot of these teams - one player.

If the quarterback is such a be-all and end-all, then acquiring a good one is not such a small change after all. Your two arguments are not consistent with one another.
