Shanny mentioned Peterson by name during the presser. And the bit about the new injury being clouded by the old injuries is garbage. The guess here is that he shredded everything, but they want things to settle down a bit (Ha!) before breaking the news to everyone. Shanny was his typical overtanned, bullshitting self today.

And he's seeing Andrews for a SECOND opinion? Who gave the first opinion? It's not like Andrews was in town last night or is the team doctor or anything.

On my commute home today, I heard two doctors on the radio saying that Griffin's MRI from November or whenever against the Ravens should be all they need to determine what's wrong with him. An injury from 2009 wouldn't muck things up at all.

Sigh. Being a DC sports fan is fun!!

From everything I'm hearing, it's the whole shebang: ACL, MCL and the corresponding meniscus damage.

Not a Redskins fan by any stretch, but I do admire Griffin's game. Hope the fucking idiot Shanahan still thinks he made the right call when his franchise QB is undergoing major reconstructive surgery.

Guess they aren't trading Kirk Cousins.

As much as I'd love to see the Seahawks win (great underdog story for the team and Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch won me a fantasy league title, etc.), I don't see it. Especially with Clemons out.

So, Robert Griffin III comes out of surgery and a long rehab to become _______

    A) The dynamic QB he was before the injury -- running and throwing
    B) Drop-back QB with only 75% of the excitability factor
    C) Fair to middling QB who struggles to throw the ball and after 2 seasons is traded to the Raiders for a 6th-rounder
    D) He'll never play QB again

Exploratory surgery is possible as part of the process to determine the extent of the damage, according to a person familiar with the case.

As long as Luck is being asked to throw 50 times a game behind that gruesome offensive line, he's at high risk of injury, whether he runs or not.

This is the same ACL he tore in college as well. Very few guys come back strong from a second torn ACL.

i do not think it is a stretch to believe rgIII will consider this injury -- regardless of its extent (partial or completely torn acl/mcl) a blessing. at his age, given peterson's recent remarkable recovery, he'll be motivated to match adrian's schedule; the long-term blessing is it is perhaps the kind of warning shot 'superman' and his foolish coach needed to use his legs less and his pocket-passing skills more in the future.

anyone surprised that the worsening of the injury is a fool. i love when it's reporrted that 'docs say he can't do any more damage. i get 'competitive juices' and all that crap, but i had hoped it was the medical staff's/coach's job to 'protect player from themselves.' there's no effin' way shanahan was looking out for thie kid qb's future in the second half. a blind man could see rgIII was a blown-out knee waiting to happen.we should know by wednesday if the worst fears were realized or if the broncos dodged a bullet.

and this macho b.s. that they wouldnt have been able to drag rgIII off the field is just that -- b.s. more plaayer b.s. shanahan either runs his team and his players or he doesn't. he's supposed to knoow better than his prized ingenue.

I love this bit: Shanahan said it was unclear whether Griffin will play in the Pro Bowl,...

It is unclear also whether I will jump to the moon tonight.

This is an aside, but has Dr. James Andrews found a way to clone himself out of pieces of athletes' shredded ACLs? How does this guy find time to examine every single injured athlete on the planet, attend playoff games in person, make speaking engagements and do all the other stuff he does in a single 24-hour day (and much less than if he actually sleeps and eats)?
I've tried to figure this out in my head, and it confounds me.
