    Yeah, it will never happen...

I had heard one theory where they would have four division winners and four wild cards (in each conference) and the four wild cards would play each other the first weekend and the division winners would all get byes... I don't hate the idea, but the league likely won't go for it because there aren't more games...

So this year it would have gone like this...

    Giants at Seattle
    Bears at Vikings
    Chargers at Colts
    Steelers at Bengals

Mizzou, that's going to leave you with six teams left for the second weekend.

I can't honestly foresee a scenario where this injury is so bad that he never plays again. With today's medicine? No way. He might have to wear a brace and he might even have a limp, but if Tom Brady's immobile ass can play quarterback at the highest level possible, there will be a place for Bob Griffin even if he's a statue -- which he won't be.

Cunningham was certainly a dynamic player, but we're not talking about a guy who could sit back and pick you apart, even in his prime. I know the NFL was different, but he was completing 53-55 percent of his throws during some of his best seasons, leading the league in getting sacked. He was scrambling around, creating space. People focus so much on Griffin's mobility and his speed because it's exciting, but really for me, the reason why he might possibly represent a real evolution at the position is that he throws a beautiful ball. Cunningham didn't. Vick threw lasers, but had zero touch. Tebow can't throw for shit. Griffin actually throws a better ball than Luck, who people can't stop blowing.

And, apropos of anything else, from what we know from Bowden's book, Cunningham's teammates could barely stand him, which doesn't seem to be the case with Griffin.

Well, fancy that... It made sense when it was explained to me... Obviously, I lost something in the translation... :D

A video that only confirms what I said about him. He was great when you moved him around, let him improvise. But there wasn't a single highlight there where he threw a ball with any timing.

At this rate they should just have a 32-game tournament at the end of the season. Then everybody is alive in Week 17.

It just won't be without everyone — especially Redskins fans and teammates — wondering what might have been. I agree Griffin is good enough to start as primarily a passer, but he wouldn't be the type of impact player those fans and teammates have come to expect.

It would be pretty sad if he was forced into that situation.

So, like a state basketball tournament...

The more I think about it, 12 is probably the best number... But I don't think going to 16 is the end of the world.

Why is everyone are so many in Washington predicting doom though? It seems in light of AP's quick rehab, the idea that he'll be permanently limited is a fairly pessimistic assessment.

But is AP a freak of nature? Probably.

Also I don't know if he's going to be physically limited, but I bet his role will be after Shanahan/Snyder saw their franchise pass before their eyes. Will he evolve to more of a pocket guy who uses the run as an occasional threat? Is the zone read going to be gone? Wouldn't even be a bad evolution necessarily -- Steve Young and Donovan McNabb did it, and I think Griffin has the talent to get toward the Steve Young portion of the spectrum. But people will look back and say "yeah, but if you had seen him when they really let him loose ..."

I assume it means that sometimes a division champ will miss the playoffs, which is another reason it won't happen. Same amount of teams. You're just taking a team with a better record (9-7 for example) as a replacement for a division champ with, for example, an 8-8 record.

It would definitely eliminate the "They're only in the playoffs because they won a shitty division!!!!!" arguments.
