Pointing out that other teams have bad guys, too, and that I will continue to root for the team anyway is NOT the same as saying it is no big deal.

I have said and continue to argue that saying you would abandon your team if it had a bad guy on it is naive at best.

If you want to argue that nobody should root for the Steelers as long as Roethlisberger wears the uniform, fine. I can understand that argument.

And you damn well better say nobody should root for the Ravens as long as Donte Stallworth plays for them. He killed somebody while driving drunk.

And the Eagles as long as Michael Vick plays for them. He tortured and killed living creatures for fun.

And the Jets as long as Sanchez plays for them. It is very much the same thing as Roethlisberger. It just isn't as high profile. And if you want to bring up multiple incidents, you should go read about the accuser from Nevada. If eyewitness accounts matter in one case, they should matter in both. Read and you will get my point. (Are you a Jets fan, Jersey Guy?)

Don't forget they have Santonio Holmes, too. Multiple kids with multiple baby mamas. History of drug use. Even admitted to dealing as a kid. Nope. Can't root for the Jets, either.

Oh, and don't forget the Rams. They employed Leonard Little for years after he killed somebody while driving drunk and even after he was arrested while driving drunk again.

Didn't the Bears excuse Tank Johnson's shenanigans for a while? Yup. Better put them on the do-not-root list, too.

Do we even have to get into all the shit the Cowboys have tolerated over the years?

I could do some research and move on.

Funny how that line keeps moving, isn't it?

Now, is there any chance we could talk football for a bit? Or do we just want to piss all over the thread?

I thought having him out was why they were playing so well.

That's on the list of reasons, yes.

Before this one particular angle takes root, you really should go back and check out the Sanchez assault complaint. There really was nothing there, certainly nothing compared to the most damning non-conviction police report this side of Kobe.

    Carry on.

BTW, something to be worried about if you're a Jets fan (not that Jets fans have a hard time finding things to worry about) is a letdown next Sunday. Let's face it - the Jets put a lot into this win emotionally, not to mention physically. Will they be able to get up like this again to face a very physical Steelers team in their house? There is a reason why only two teams have ever reached the Super Bowl by winning three straight road games.

If the Jets lose next Sunday, what happened tonight is merely a footnote in history. They will have still fallen short of the Super Bowl again. For the Jets, tonight was a big step towards an end, but it was still just a step, not the end.

Since when do we care about whether there is anything really there in one of these cases? Like I said. Go read the articles about the woman in Nevada who accused Roethlisberger. Even her friends said she was bragging about banging him when it happened.

That was kind of my point. What he did in Georgia was bad enough. I don't need any other evidence that Roethlisberger is a dirtbag. But accuracy went out the window a long time ago.

In defense of Nantz (mark this date - it'll never happen again), there's celebration and there's staged, self-indulgent, "look at me!" upstaging. What Greene did, scoring then taking a few seconds to remember his plan before acting as if the football was a pillow and he was going to take a nap in the end zone, had nothing to do with exuberance of scoring the touchdown. It was Greene wanting everyone to see Greene, it was bush-league crap.
That said, I'm glad he scored it and the Jets advanced. Love the Pitt-NYJ matchup in the conference championship.

I think you're so staked out to your position that you don't know what your point is anymore. But for me, the credibility of the accusations in the Georgia case is a huge difference. Personally I don't give much weight to the Nevada case but I can't speak for others.

Should be fun. Both teams can play defense. Both look great at times on offense, then look like complete dogshit at other times. Both are capable of incredible stupidity. And the first meeting was damn entertaining.
