Only in Pittsburgh? Really? Like that Ed Hochuli non-fumble call? Oh, wait that was San Diego at Denver. The Vinny Testaverde helmet touchdown? No, that was Seattle at the Jets. How about Calvin Johnson's non-catch in this season's opener? Darn, that was Detroit-Chicago.

The fact is, controversial and blatantly wrong calls happen all over.

But good luck searching for the memo to the refs spelling out the league directive that the Steelers must win at all costs.

The NFL said it's investigation of charge cleared Pats of wrongdoing. Is that absence of evidence or exoneration? It was good enough for Herald to admit it was wrong to run the story, an admission I'm sure it didn't make lightly.

The Jets did run the ball last time, about as well as any opponent has against the Steelers this season. Pittsburgh has to find a way to change that in the rematch and force Sanchez to win it. Polamalu's return should help, but that alone won't do it.

This is going to be a lot like the Steelers-Ravens games in recent years. The Steelers are used to being the more physical team, but they may have to find a way to win the game while losing more battles than they win up front.

And the powers that be still say Oswald acted alone. Just because a governing body says something, it does not make it fact.

No it doesn't, but the fact remains that when asked to formally substantiate its story, the Herald could not. Asked to repeat claims on the record in a situation where he faced legal consequences, the source or sources of that story would or could not.

    Favorite angle to this weekend...

The thought of Favre sitting on the couch in Mississippi in three weeks for the Super Bowl.

    Jets vs. Packers.

You can't tell me that's not worth sending Wurder to Kiln to stake out how he's handling THAT.

Those were snap judgment calls, fatally wrong as they were.

Not a clerical error, which I'm sure was totally accidental because it happens so often, from week to week.

You know, when you'll go to the wall for Phil Luckett or a preening ass like Hochuli, there's really no hope.

Can everybody else just feel the desperation here? I know I can. You just never get tired of making a fool of yourself on this topic, do you, LJB?

I'm going to tell you exactly what I tell the Seahawks fans about Super Bowl XL, 93Devil. It's time to let it go.

Go back to getting owned on Roethlisberger. The adults are discussing business.

Just heard former Vikings WR Cris Carter on ESPN Radio trying to dissect what went wrong with the Patriots on Sunday. Seriously, ESPN?

Given CC's track record in the post-season, doesn't it just make more sense to only have Carter work the regular season and then go on vacation until the August pre-season?

    "I hate Favre."

    "Go away Favre."

"Hey, let's send someone to see how Favre is handling this."

    "Favre said . . . "

"Fucking drama queen. Damn it, just go away."

He can't go away. We won't let him.

Until they are. Then they become obnoxious loudmouths or are throwing people under the bus.

In other words, "Whatever you are, we want you to be something else."
