I know a whole lotta Brett's contemporaries that year who could have steered that team to a Super Bowl win from a rocking chair.

Mr. Gee is correct. In Starr's day, you wanted your QB to have at least a 50% completion rate and gain ten yards per completion. That means that the accepted floor for yards per attempt was five. The West Coast offense and the emphasis on protecting the QB have changed all the standards. That makes comparisons based on stats problematic.

Five championship rings? Those still translate.

If what Rodgers did can legitimately be topped --- as it has been --- then it falls short of "perfect" in the rating.

What's so idiotic about that? Do we always have to lower the bar and call very good "perfect" or, in the eyes of voters, "Hall of Famer."?

Do we really give a crap what his passer rating was? Isn't it good enough to know that he had a great game without putting a contrived "rating" on it?

My head hurts just watching the replay of Carlson hitting the deck.

So your contention is that Rodgers' performance yesterday was just "very good?" Let me reiterate: 31 for 36, 366 yards, 3 TDs.

Actually, I'm a little more worried about his neck.

Somebody asked about it, so I guess the answer is "yes."

    I guess not.

It was very good. Nothing wrong with that. "Very good" used to be a high mark of excellence . . . before great, super and superduper took over and rendered the adjective meaningless.

Is anyone else getting the hideously annoying 6 second delay?

I never warmed up to the rating system because I don't know how it's calculated and have no interest in finding out. This is not willful ignorance; just give me the stats, and I think I can figure out if the guy had a great day, a mediocre one or a shitty one.

Rodgers was just out of control, and if his rating was hurt by attempts per TD or something like that, well ... blech. You gotta be kidding me. It's just another reminder of why I don't pay attention to it.
