I think that's more because of the early interception. Before that, the Pats were moving right down the field and doing whatever they want. Afterward, the Jets found a little confidence, mostly because it was clear this wasn't going to be another 45-3 shitshow.

Seems like he's not putting his best foot forward.

I would bet whatever fortune I have that Belichick not only knew what Welker was saying and whole-heartedly approved it, but also came up with the message. The "punishment" (what was it, one snap?) is just to maintain the aura.

Probably a good message: If you break Hoodie's rules, you will have to face some sort of consequence, even if it's sitting out only one series, because you have to do things The Patriot Way. Follow his rules, you might be a lifer like Bruschi or Troy Brown. Don't follow his rules, exit stage left.

    Think they will? No.

    Hope they will? Oh yes.

And yes, I do know about being careful about what you wish for. The Jets are certainly going into Pittsburgh and winning next week. I just don't think the Steelers are capable of beating the Patriots. Even some of the Steelers were willing to admit yesterday that they were rooting for the Jets. James Farrior even broke into a cheer for his old team.

Edit: Gutless call on third down there by the Jets. Of course, they wouldn't have been in that spot of Holmes would catch the damn ball. Where is the clutch playoff performer he has always been?

Was looking forward to the review of that play changing it to an incomplete pass due to the Tuck Rule.

That could be a huge non-recovery for the Jets there. Could've really buried the Patriots with a turnover and quick touchdown there. Yeah, New England will punt, but it's not the same.

They better not be. Brady is too good to sit on a 14-3 lead in the third quarter.

Play smart, but still be aggressive.

Halfway thru the 3rd. Anyone still think New England is going to just turn it on?

Yes, but I'm a pessimist at heart.

I do. But only because I'm a helpless fanboi and I've seen the Pats do this 1,045 times before.

Definitely. Huge swing in field position with the 50-yard punt that followed. They could have at least run some plays in the Patriots' end before having Folk come on and gack another field goal.
