Same here. I've been saying for a while that I wasn't that impressed by the Falcons, but never really thought the Jets could beat the Patriots.

Rex Ryan may be a joke, but that is 4 road playoff wins in 2 years. That was a clinic on defense -- a balls out performance.

New England retooled on the fly. They had a good year but not one of their better teams on paper.

In the end Pats were hurt by not having a deep threat. Their dink and dunk 4th QTR drive consumed to much time.

The Pats defense was very similar to what the Saints defense was last season. They gave up yards and points, but generated an enormous number of turnovers and quite a few defensive scores. As we just saw, when they didn't get the turnovers, they were average to slightly above.

Actually, I think this one is better than the first Super Bowl team and not far behind the 19-1 squad. The 2001 team was far from overwhelming on paper, too, and the one that lost in the Super Bowl couldn't run and had an erratic defense.

The Patriots do well retooling on the fly and some of their most successful teams got better as the season went on. So did this one, right up to the point of laying an egg today.

    This.

You may not be defending him, but you are saying, 'Eh, no biggie - everybody's got a bad guy one their team.' Or at least that's how you're coming off to me.

And it's not the same as Sanchez. Not with multiple incidents. Yeah, maybe every team does have some guys with questionable character, but most don't have a guy with the questions surrounding him that Big Ben does.

I was surprised how bad Brady looked extending the play and moving out of the pocket.

May have been mentioned earlier, but No. 1 seeds going out in the divisional round since seedings started in 1975:

1979: Oilers 17, Chargers 14; Rams 21, Cowboys 19 (Rams made the Super Bowl; Oilers lost). Note: Rams also had a bye going into the Cowboys game; Oilers had to win a wild card game.
2008: Ravens 13, Titans 10; Eagles 23, Giants 11 (both lost in conference title games)
    2010: Jets 28, Patriots 21; Packers 48, Falcons 21

Also, the Chiefs... 1995, 1997, 2003. All the #1. All bounced.

And the Titans in 2000. And the Cowboys in 2007.

Was your list meant to be comprehensive?

Looked to me like the hooded fucking genius got totally outcoached tonight.

Rex might be a blowhard but it ain't just braggin' if you back it up.
