Not any more silly than saying a quarterback hasn't done anything when he's put together 10 good quarters to start the season -- eight of those quarters coming in road wins.

When a player's career is defined by inconsistency, and an attempt is made to show he's become a consistent player, you need a little more than 10 quarters of evidence to overcome years to the contrary.

I'm not saying put Vick in Canton. I'm saying he's playing well right now, God forbid we give the guy credit for what's he's doing on the field. Crazy as it sounds, it's not a given for a good quarterback to have a good game against a bad defense, especially in back-to-back road games.

I will give him credit, but I will continue to pray for his getting hit by a bus.

Seattle and KC (when the 'Head is full) are two of the more difficult road games to play in.

And it shouldn't be difficult to find motivation to play on MNF if you home opener. I'd also like to point out that Vernon Davis did one hell of a disappearing act for someone who "guaranteed" a victory.

You do realize he has had streaks of two or three games in the past in which he looked great before, only to fall on his face, right?

I hope all the Vick-bashers are right, because he's quickly becoming the player I hate to love. I wish they'd put somebody else's jersey on him. It kills me to enjoy watching that despicable bastard play football, but dammit, I do.

As Al just said ... had an accident as a kid. Burned the corneas. Very light sensitive. Same with Jim McMahon.

I do, obviously. I don't live under a rock. But that doesn't change the fact that he's playing great right now, no matter how some try to marginalize what he's done so far his season (weak defenses, Packers didn't gameplan for Vick, etc.).

I'm starting to wonder if Singletary's in a bit over his head here. He wants a running team, and, you could do that back in the day before the rules were changed to encourage more passing ... and your workhorse back was Walter Payton! Frank Gore's servicable, but no No. 34. I wonder if the players are starting to tune out his speeches as well. And I think they'd better stop thinking there's great upside to Alex Smith and realize WYSWIG. But putting in Carr won't change much, since the offense is fundamentally flawed to start with.

Lots to take shots at here:

Packer Defense...Good or Bad? (Relating to Vick): We will know more tomorrow night when they play at Chicago. When Vick got 'em, Green Bay was leading 27-10, IIRC, and just trying to end the game without further injuries. Vick played well, yes, but also missed open receivers and could have walked in for a score. Green Bay's stats are also skewed. They had Buffalo (and Trent Edwards) in Week 2.

The NFL Game Experience/Watching On TV. The league brought this on themselves. As a former sports anchor (hence my handle), I would watch (and log) endless NFL games. In 1998, I believe, the NFL added the "commercial break after the kickoff return on a score" timeout. At that moment, I could see the experience at home starting to take over the stadium experience.

Games at Arrowhead in my younger days (1990's) were magical. By 2007, they were charging $25 to park and watch THAT team. Between the drunks, the overpriced food, the traffic and - worst of all - only committing to one game, it quit being worth the $300+ for two people. Especially in northern climates, WHY freeze after Halloween when you can watch it on TV with your friends...make snide comments and eat top-shelf food instead?

HDTV and RedZone have tipped it far in the other direction. I'd feel the same way about college football if not for the pretty girls on campus. That's also why I like going to Thursday night college football games - so that I still get all of the Saturday games and don't just commit to one.
