Isn't Leftwich nicked up? Some sort of knee injury? I thought that's why the Steelers cut him, was because they knew he wasn't going to play on Sunday no matter what. If Batch is healthy and Leftwich not, there's some logic to making Batch the starter.

That is correct. Leftwich was not going to be able to play this past Sunday, so he was the one they cut loose. He still isn't 100 percent. My understanding was that the Steelers really liked Leftwich and wanted to keep him as the backup before the 2009 season, but he went to the Bucs for the chance to start.

Bucs safety Tanard Jackson suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He will be eligible for reinstatement in a year. I really don't know much about the guy. How big of a hit is this for Tampa?

If that's the case, Lurie's no better than Dan Snyder (or Jerry Jones and Al Davis, in their heydays of being total asses). I had Kevin Kolb as one of my starters, so understandably I'm pissed. But that happens. My problem is Andy Reid built Kolb up as the starter all preseason. Kolb signed a huge contract. Then Andy basically yanks Kolb on the basis of one half of football (ended by a concussion, not ineffectiveness).

That's my beef with this. If Andy is fired at season's end, I will cheer. It's one thing if Kevin stinks up the joint like Jason Campbell and gets yanked. It's quite another to get battered because your team has a crappy offensive line and not get another chance because you got hurt.

Dipshit, just to clarify, you aren't a worse person for not rooting for him, you are a worse person for going out of your way to rip on him even though he has been punished and is trying to better himself. Might want to make sure you've got everything straight before reverting to your inner third grader. Immediately questioning the intelligence of a viewpoint that differs from yours is on par with saying 'My dad can beat up your dad'. Unless of course you are questioning the intelligence of MisterCreosote. I don't even want to dignify his post with a direct response.

I said that your post was stupid, not you. There is a difference. Try reading carefully enough to actually understand the posts that piss you off before you start the childish name-calling next time, ok?

Then again, you already called me a worse human being than Vick. And MisterCreosote's point makes a hell of a lot more sense than yours. He is saying that this isn't a matter of Vick not knowing any better when he tortured and killed those dogs. He isn't buying that excuse and neither am I. I just don't see a valid excuse for that kind of cruelty.

Did I say he still belongs in jail? No. Did I say he shouldn't be allowed to play? No. I just think he has revealed his lack of character and I don't understand rooting for him, except maybe Eagles fans because for now their team's fate is tied to his success.

But somehow I'm a bad guy for not liking him? Grow the fuck up.

  7. They cut hmi because he wasn't going to play and because they needed to add a d-lineman for depth for the Titans game. He was cut knowing that he would re-sign all along. And Charlie Batch isn't necessarily good, per se, but he does have a good handle on the offense, makes good quick reads, and that's all the Steelers really want now. Not a guy who can take them over for a season, rather hold the fort until Lefty is healthy, or Ben comes back, whichever happens first.

Not hostile at all. I seriously just don't give a shit if you understand the reasons I still root for Vick. And I don't give a shit that by rooting for him, you believe that says something about me, not you.

What exactly does that say about me? Drop some knowledge, professor. By the way, I also still root for Kobe. And Ray Lewis. GAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

That depends on whether or not you believe Bryant actually committed rape and Lewis participated in murder. See, with Vick, there is no question. He did what he was accused of. If you still like a guy despite his being proven to be a lowlife, that speaks to your character as well.

But what exactly does it say about my character? Be specific? Does it make me a bad guy? Should I not be trusted to watch my brother's two kids over the weekend? Should I not be allowed to watch my neighbor's dog while he's away on business? Should I add the fact that I still root for Vick to my resume?

Please....what *exactly* does that say about my character, guy who I've never met?

We can play these games all day if you want, but I'm pretty sure that I never wrote that you questioned my intelligence, just the intelligence of my differing viewpoint...there's a difference. (See what I did there?) And why exactly does MisterCreosote's post make more sense than mine? Because it jibes with your opinion? Besides, I don't think I'm disputing that Vick knowingly did something heinous, I just believe he paid his dues and deserves a second chance without spiteful people spewing bile in his direction. I tend to support those who are trying to better themselves, not kick them when they are down. But you're right. I'm the one that's childish and needs to grow up.
