NFL Week 1: Frankenstein's, er, Peyton's Return

    Has there been a broadcaster who was witness to so many seminal moments of sports history?
    He was on Simmons' podcast a while back, maybe some time last year, and they spent an hour just talking about that -- the Miracle on Ice, the '89 World Series earthquake, his behind-the-scenes interview wrangling for ABC News during the O.J. drama (he and O.J. lived near each other and played tennis together before the murders), some of the other baseball and football stuff he's done that you don't even realize he was part of ... it was amazing.
    They talked for an hour-plus and barely seemed to scratch the surface. Not sure if he stops traffic around stadiums and press boxes, but Michaels has probably narrated more historic moments in the past 40 years than any broadcaster alive.

    Also called Hagler-Hearns the best fight of the past - at least - 30 years.
