Looking forward to several years of Pete Carrol's "How'd That Happen?" gifs.

BecUse you think the best punter in the league would pin them better than the 17, or at worst it’s the 20. Not a shank.

Meh so many things can go wrong (as witnessed) I'm not sure I'm accepting a penalty that only serves to put me 5 yards closer to the endzone.

Niners could win this game and lose six guys doing it.

Niners may not get the ball back

That dude was nails. He's going to have an NFL job for a few years somewhere.

It’s not just 5 yards. It’s the right call wrong, result.

Now would be a great time for those fumbles to return

Oh boy ... here we go.

Have I been critical of Newton in the past? Sure. No regrets.

All of those issues minor quibbles in the big-picture scheme, excepting perhaps the issue with Jourdan Rodrigue (a nasty black mark, but FWIW, he did apologize, complete with asking fans to say "Don't be like me. Be better than me."
    ).

If the Panthers cut him following the season - which is not a move I'd begin to endorse - let this become the personification of proving that no matter how big you are, this game can break you.

Yes, he's 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds ... somewhere in that general neighborhood. No question he's large. Had a former small-college linebacker who was once on the field in Charlotte pregame and told me that Newton really looks that big. He was not prove to exaggeration, to put it mildly.

Without question, he took more punishment than any quarterback in the NFL since he started in 2011. Not even close. Took more hits than practice baseballs at a worn-out batting cage.

And he has been getting bashed from the outside almost as much as he was hit between the whistles. The stories already predicting his demise, IMO, have almost ghoulish tone to them.

Now ... someone trying to argue that was not worth a first-round pick.

I have now heard it all.

I'm not sure if the quality of the game makes Booger and Tess more or less irritating - but neither of these two should be talking about the moment being "too big" for someone else. That guy had one kick. These two have had 10 games. And failed to deliver in every one of them.

I'm remembering when the SJSU game caused me the biggest anxiety. Those were good times.
