ESPN showed a stat today that went something like ...

Jets pretty much went base D the entire game. Until the last drive. On that last drive, there were extra DBs in on something like 92% of the plays.

On final play Jets had 8 players in the box and CB's were man to man on receivers. Bronco ends ran off corners to end zone and once Tebow broke contain he was gone. Jet DB's did not even react.

Really The Jets D looked like a youth football team on that play.

Antonio Cromartie must have been thinking about alimony checks. Most of plays in that drive were to his side of field.

That was a cornerback. Sure, a relatively physical one, but still, a cornerback. The way he plays, he's going to take some big hits from much bigger guys.

That said, even if he stays healthy, he is an extremely limited player right now. Sure, it's fun and it is working for now, but eventually you have to be able to throw the ball better than he does.

Boom, the mistake was putting them all in the box. Tebow's not going to run right away -- he'll make you commit first. Had a couple linebackers filled the middle, at least there would have been somebody to stop him before the end zone. To me, it seems like you have to fill spaces so Tebow sees someone wherever he looks. You can't play for the sack anymore.

    Here's the clip.

Mistake was Eric Smith losing contain and Cromartie and Wilson not paying attention once Tebow broke the LOS.
Have to give some credit to Bronco wideouts for the play working. Great downfield blocking.

One thing Tebow does well is make good reads which makes it hard to defend him.

Yeah, as a defensive back against Tebow, you have to keep an eye in the backfield because he can run at any time. As a DB you normally think that a QB will go through all the progressions first, then run. If Tebow sees space, he'll run. That's also why you can't break contain like Smith did. Of course, I'm not sure that Smith could have brought him down, or held him long enough. You need a quick linebacker, if you have one, to keep an eye on him. The Bears figured that early how Urlacher plays Michael Vick, who has never done well against Chicago.

No doubt that Tebow is seeing the field much better and making quicker decisions, which is why blitzing him makes no sense now. At some point, he might go through progressions, but if you're a fast 240-pounder who sees a 15-yard cushion in front of you, why not take off?

There are not that many LBs who are bigger than Tebow. And again, I don't care how big the guy is, usually the aggressor is not going to be the one to get hurt. Delivering a blow is a lot different than absorbing one.

I'm not saying Tebow can't get hurt running the football, but if he stays aggressive, he's not going to get knocked out of four games a year like Vick does.

Once ownership acceded to the unwashed masses, Fox had to play it this way. It's his job. No way he was going to put Tebow in charge of an offensive scheme which didn't give Tebow his own best shot to succeed.

Are you dumb enough to think Revis gets paid to tackle? That was somebody else's play to make.

You don't watch much football, do you?

Break contain? Break contain? Really? Not out of an announcer's mouth, but intentionally typed, with a chance to think about it?

Holy fucking shit, the language terrorists (coaches, talking heads, ex-jocks) have won. Damn.

They won as soon as anyone was referred to as the "winningest" coach of all time.
